Chereads / Her Alpha, His Queen / Chapter 4 - Chapter 3

Chapter 4 - Chapter 3

Geometry. Math. Yay.

Some people were already in the classroom by the time I arrived. Not interested in socialising, I quietly chose a seat at the front right in front of the teacher's desk. I pulled out my notebook and pretended to read.

I heard light footsteps as someone walked in my direction. I moved my book closer to my face with the hopes of discouraging a conversation. Life, apparently, had other plans. The intensity of the citrus scent of the person's perfume indicated that the person was very near.

Maybe if I keep reading, the person would go away.

"Excuse me."

Oh well.

"Do you have a spare pen?"

What kind of sucker doesn't have a pen on the first day of school?

"No." A lie. I have about two dozens of pens in my bag. Don't ask why.

"Oh okay."

The person walked away.

Soon, the classroom got more occupants and the teacher showed up. Our math teacher was a man who seemed to be in his early forties. He had auburn hair and a slightly crooked nose. He wore a cream button up shirt underneath a brown woolen vest. He had a friendly vibe to him.

"Goodmorning class." He greeted. "I am Mr. Holden and I'll be teaching..."

Let's just say the class was uneventful.

After some other boring classes, lunchbreak arrived.

I stopped at my locker to grab swap books. Why do I feel like I'm forgetting something?

Someone tapped me and I hastily turned with my books raised, ready to hit whoever was behind me.

"Woah there, ninja." A familiar voice chuckled. Seth.

I slowly lowered my books. "Hey."

He smiled. "Let's go grab lunch, then we'll talk."

I frowned. "Talk about what?"

Seth eyed me in question. "Um, about this morning? Remember?"

Oh.

"OK."

"Do you need to stop at the cafeteria to get food or you already have something to eat?" Seth asked, walking with a spring in his step. Someone seems happy.

"I have food. You?"

"Same." He replied. "So, under the oak tree then?"

"Yep."

A girl squealed beside us. "Jennie, have you seen them? They're so hot!"

I ignored the girl but Seth attention was on her so I had to wait too.

She was with two other girls and they were gossiping about something.

"Who?" One of the other girls asked.

"The transfer students!" The first girl replied excitedly.

I sighed, already bored. "Seth, let's go."

He ignored me. He approached the girls. "What grade are they in?" He asked. Nosey brat.

"Your grade." The first girl replied, blushing slightly.

"Oh ok."

I sighed impatiently. Seth got the memo and left the girls.

"Calm down, will you?"

I rolled my eyes. "You're nosey."

He scoffed. "No, I'm not. I'm just getting information."

I kept silent, not in the mood for banter. Seth didn't mind my quietness.

"Dee, can we go to the cafeteria?"

I raised an eyebrow. "Why?"

He smiled sheepishly. "I wanna see the new students."

I huffed.

"Please, Dee."

"Why?"

"Great! Let's go." He chirped, already walking to the cafeteria.

I hurried after him. "I didn't say yes."

"Too bad." He replied cheekily.

We arrived at our destination and Seth looked around, trying to spot the transfer students. I honestly don't understand why he cares so much.

I eyed some people who were giving me side glances. I stared at them, raising both my eyebrows in a way Mother always said looked creepy. They hurriedly looked away. I wasn't bothered. Gossip doesn't faze me.

I turned my attention to Seth but he wasn't beside me anymore. He was already heading for a table. I groaned as I observed the table wasn't empty. Maybe I can sneak out without him noticing me.

"Dee come on!"

"Great." I muttered, dragging my feet to the table. Not bothering to look at the other occupants, I slumped beside Seth and glared at the table.

Seth elbowed me in the ribs and I glared at him.

"Please excuse my friend. She's a spoiled brat." Seth said, addressing the others.

I stepped his foot hard and he jumped. Smirking in contentment, I resumed staring at the table. I could feel eyes on me. I decided to ignore them.

Seth muttered some curse words and introduced me to the others. I heard a couple of 'Nice to meet you, Delilah's but I just nodded in response.

"Not a very social one, are we?" A smooth masculine voice drawled. It held some sort of authority in it which caught me unawares.

I raised an eyebrow in surprise and looked up at the source of the voice.

It was a dude. A very weird looking dude. With whipped cream hair. I giggled at the thought. Whipped cream hair. He was kinda hot... Kinda. I wasn't attracted to him or anything. He had soft features that made him look delicate. Although, he didn't look like my type, I couldn't deny that he was good looking. He was also wearing shades. The dude raised an eyebrow at me from behind his stupid shades. Why wear shades indoors? Weirdo.

"What's so funny, Delilah?" He asked. I couldn't tell if he was angry or not. His tone was neutral.

I just stared at him, also raising an eyebrow. I could feel the stares of the others at the table. I looked at Seth. He was frowning at me.

"Dee, you're acting rude." He chided.

I scoffed. "He's the one wearing shades indoors."

Somebody at the table laughed. "See? I told ya those shades look stupid."

Whipped Cream hastily removed the the shades. His eyes were a beautiful dark hazel. They stunned me momentarily. Something about them was sad, though, as if he's been hurt a lot.

I finally took a look at the other occupants. 2 girls and 3 boys apart from me, Seth and Whipped Cream. One of the girls looked Asian. The other had smooth dark skin and really long magenta braids. I liked her vibe.

One of the dudes had brown hair and a freckled face. Another was blonde. Okay, his name is Draco. And the last had long black hair. He looked quiet and not so friendly. My kind of guy. He was also really handsome. Everyone in this group of friends is good looking. What gives?

Apparently, I had been staring at him for sometime. Someone cleared their throat. I hurriedly looked away from him to see Seth glaring at him. Whipped Cream was also glaring at him.

"What?" I asked, confused. "Did I miss something?"

"Wow. She spoke again." The dark-skinned girl drawled. I looked at her. "Thought you were gonna give us the silent treatment." She winked at me. What am I supposed to do when a girl winks at me?

I just stared awkwardly at her. Sensing my dilemma, she laughed and turned to Seth.

"Your girl isn't so social, huh?" She asked in amusement.

Seth blushed lightly. "She's a bit of a grump but she's cool." He put his arm around my chair.

The Asian girl gazed worriedly at Whipped Cream and I followed her gaze. He had this mild hostile look on his face, directed at my best friend. Seth, being an oblivious dunderhead, didn't detect the sudden hostility from Whipped Cream as he sprung into conversation with Freckle Man.

Man, I'm good at assigning nicknames.

"Sorry," Whipped Cream interrupted curtly. "but are you two in a relationship?"

"Who?" Seth asked. I mentally facepalmed. Who else would he be talking to? Everybody else at the table are his buddies.

"Who do you think?" Freckle Man asked sarcastically. "You guys of course."

"Oh." Seth scratched his head and glanced hesitantly at me. "We're not in a relationship... but I hope to soon change that."

I swear I heard a low growl from Whipped Cream.

"Control yourself." A quiet but authoritative voice ordered.

It was the dude with black hair. His gaze was fixed on Whipped Cream. Whipped Cream looked at him and nodded. The black haired guy then turned to me.

"Did you hear anything, Delilah?" His voice was quiet but threatening.

I guessed he was talking about the growl-like sound I heard. He raised an eyebrow. I raised one back.

"Care to explain?" I asked innocently.

Seth just watched us in utter confusion.

His eyes narrowed. "Break is almost over. Let's go." And just like that, he got up and left without waiting for his friends.

"Grouch." Magenta Head mumbled. "Well, see you later, Seth." She then glanced briefly at me. "Delilah." She winked again and left.

Asian girl and the rest of the strangers also got up.

Seth looked dumbfounded. "You're all leaving? We don't even know your names."

Freckle Man smacked his forehead. "Sorry, we completely forgot. I'm Austin, colourful braids is Zara, blondie over here is Damien..." so much for Draco "this Asian beauty over here is Biyu, Shades is Harley and Mr Mysterious is Ronnie."

Seth nodded. "Okay thanks."

Biyu then pulled at Austin. "C'mon let's go."

She bade us a hasty goodbye and tugged Austin away. I'm guessing they are in a relationship. Damien gave us a small nod and followed.

Seth and I turned to Harley, expecting him to follow his friends. He stared thoughtfully, almost sadly, at us.

"I guess I'll see you guys later." He mumbled, seeming to be talking more to himself than us.

He finally went after his friends.

"I don't think they liked me very much." I muttered.

Seth smiled at me and put his hand on mine. "Well, I don't think that's true, but if it is, why should you care? You're Delilah Villin, remember?"

I smiled back. "You're right. I'm Delilah Villin."

We then ate our lunch. Looks like we ain't getting that talk this lunch break.

Soon, lunch break was over and classes resumed. And before I knew it, I was done with school for the day. That might have been good news for some but for me, it wasn't. My evil grandparents were waiting for me at home. Fan-fuckin-tastic.

I sat on a bench outside and called my mum. She picked up on the first ring.

"I'm on my way." She then hung up.

Well, hello to you too.

I rolled my eyes and stared at my phone with disinterest.

I felt a familiar presence behind the bench. Seth.

"Hey Dee. How were your classes?"

I huffed. "Exhausting." Adjusting myself to make room for him, he took a seat.

"So you're waiting for your mum now."

"Yep."

We sat in comfortable silence for a while until someone interrupted. I looked up from my fingers and alas, it was Whipped Cream and Co.

Seth beamed. "Hey guys."

"Heyo." Austin responded. "Need rides?"

"No." I responded bluntly.

Seth elbowed me. I glared at him. He glared scoldingly at me.

I sighed exaggeratedly. "Thanks for the offer."

Austin chuckled. "S'all good."

I looked over at the group. Biyu was talking to Zara. Damien was watching something on his phone, Whipped Cream and Ronnie were both staring at me, Whipped Cream out of curiosity but Ronnie's stare was unreadable to me. Creep.

"What?" I asked, sounding harsher than I intended.

Before anyone could say anything, I spotted the familiar black sheen of my mum's maserati. Yes!

"Bye!" I exclaimed, grabbed my bag, jumped up and dashed off..., well, tried to dash off. My movement was halted by a strong hand which grabbed mine. A sensation of sparks erupted on my skin which visibly shook me.

I yanked my hand away and glared at the strange hand, which led me to glare at the owner.

Whipped Cream. Of course.

"What?" I snapped again.

He smirked. "Bye Delilah."

I stared dumbfounded at him for a while before regaining my senses. Those sparks... They made me feel funny. I kinda liked it, which just angered me more. I felt a very strong urge to stomp on his foot. I shot him one last glare and ran off to my mum.

She had been watching the whole thing with curiosity.

I got in the passenger seat and scowled at Whipped Cream from the comfort of my mum's car. The idiot was smirking at me.

"I see you've made some new friends." Mum said, chuckling.

"He's not my friend." I really hate it when strangers touch me.

"Okay then."

Soon, we were on the road. Mum turned on the radio and Taylor Swift's Fifteen was on. I smiled, the music instantly calming me down. This was the first song of Taylor's I've ever heard and I absolutely loved it.

I closed my eyes and lost myself in the song. I didn't even notice when we got home. I also didn't notice my annoying grandparents standing beside the car.

My tranquil state was interrupted by someone rudely rapping on my window. I opened my eyes and immediately met the eyes of my oh so lovely grandmother who opened the car door.

"Hello Delilah."

Fan-fuckin-tastic.
