Chapter 9 - Escape

Chapter 09.

Radha got out of the car and started walking into a tree plantation. Anuh flew out of the car and landed on his shoulders. It asked him, "Are you really going to practice wind element spells instead of improving your earth element spells?"

"Yes." Radha replied.

"Get proficient in one set of skills, that's what you should be doing now. Don't be an idiot and dabble into other elements just yet." Anuh yelled at him furiously.

"Take me to Cheye. I will listen to you." Radha was nonchalant.

"Your strength has grown but it's not enough. So do what I say." Anuh sneered.

"You have spoken a lot about Cheye when we were in my world but I haven't heard about it from you since we came to Vru?" Radha asked.

"The more I speak the more you will look forward to going there. So I am not going to say anything about it until you get stronger." Anuh said.

"It's more useful if I have something to add to my escape skills. We can talk about getting stronger later." Radha replied.

"You are lost." Anuh suddenly said.

Radha looked around. He felt that the trees around were the same as those he saw before. He asked, "You could have said earlier. Why didn't you?"

"Your earth element perception isn't great. You could have felt it if it was." Anuh scoffed at him. He continued, " I don't want you to waste your time with this nonsense. Why should I inform you?

"I am wasting my time now." Radha replied. He perceived the earth elements and injected his magic energy into the ground. The landscape around him started to change.

Radha started to hear faint sounds of breathing around him. Eerie atmosphere spread as the landscape darkened.

He looked ahead and a pair of large eyes appeared in his field of vision. A large blue-grayish muscular wolf appeared in his vision with its fangs bearing at him. A pack of wolves each smaller in size than the one leading in the front were standing in the back.

Radha felt the disturbances in the air currents. He asked Anuh, "You didn't say there is a troop of wind wolves welcoming us." He gathered his magic energy and gained control over the soil around him while the wolf leader strode towards him, it's footsteps clearly audible in the silent surroundings.

"I didn't want to. Now run, start practicing your escape skills using the earth element." Anuh laughed. It transformed into a energy body and entered Radha's body.

"Shit". Radha cursed. He dropped into the hole on the ground that was created by him. After his powers integrated with Anuh, the attributes of the earth elements around him changed with the power from Anuh. He traveled through the hole that was extending according to his will.

The wolf leader howled, enraged. It stomped it's feet on the ground. The air currents became turbulent. It turned its head and started running to its left side.

Radha, who is escaping underground, perceived the movement of the wolf. He asked, "It is following us. How could it do that?"

"This is its territory. It had enough time to adapt to the changes that followed the tree plantation." Anuh replied.

Radha was irritated. He felt the strength of the wolf that exceeded him and its bloodthirstiness when it stood in front of him. With a pack of wolves following it, he didn't think about fighting. Now he wasn't sure if he could escape without any losses.

Radha turned around and started running back. He concentrated on the soil that loosened because of his power. The soil hardened as he moved forward.

The wolf leader slowed and turned back in split seconds with the wind aiding it. It followed Radha soon.

Sharp pointy spikes protruded from the ground. The wolf leader was unconcerned. It stepped on them as it followed Radha. Every step created vibrations that could be felt by Radha.

Radha was dumbstruck when he felt the spikes disassembled as soon as he sent them to the surface.

He continued to roam underground constantly changing his direction, sending spikes with intervals. The wolf leader was enraged. It stopped at a spot where it destroyed a spike. It howled towards the sky. Wind accumluted with it as the centre then shot to a height of 10 mts above the spot. The air currents rolled around and swirled. The air currents started drilling into the ground at the spot where the spike was stomped, soil rose into the air and gave way to the air currents.

Radha felt the wind drilling into the ground at an overwhelming speed and spreading along the loosened soil.

"Fuck. I should just risk it." He thought. He quickly controlled the soil and stones on the surface and disturbed the air currents. Without much effect on it he poured the soil and stones with the momentum from the air currents on the wolf.

A wind shield guarded the wolf. Radha increased his power. With an enormous push from the pouring soil, the wolf leader was disturbed. It's perception and control was interrupted.

Radha increased his power on the land with Anuh sending more energy into him. He felt his head aching. He controlled the land and tried to shift the places around the loosened soil.

The wolf leader felt the vibrations from the ground. As the wind drilled into the land with its control, the land shook more.

Radha gave up his control on the soil and stones on the surface. He increased his power and moved the land. As he felt the land shifting. He tried to adapt his power to the movements. The land above started to quiver.

The wolf started to move back as it felt the changes in the land around it. It lost the whereabouts of Radha with the quivering land. The wolf leader controlled the air currents to press on the land and also tried to straighten it from inside.

Radha moved the land parts that were unsettled and breaking. His power flowed as the land wobbled. The tremors on the ground frightened the wolf leader. It ran with its pack. It stopped at a distance and howled with unwillingness.

Radha withdrew his power from shifting the land and drilled into the land. He increased his speed to the greatest and ran along the burrowed hole.

After running a long time he came out onto the surface. He leaned on a nearby tree and slowly sat leaning his back on the tree. He held his head, gasped for breadth, sweat streaming down his neck.

After taking a brief rest he stood up. He asked Anuh, which was lying on his shoulders for some time,"Should we get the car?"

"If you wish to get some more practice." Anuh replied concisely.
