Chapter 12 - Investigation (2)

In the main hall, the higher-ups gathered, their faces solemn.

"Of course, you've heard that Nesa is Oxara,"

Tuscany's face looked surprised, she looked at the other higher-ups, they weren't surprised at all.

"I can't believe it's Ivory, Oxara is dead and can't come back here anymore," Vermilion argued.

"At first I thought so too, but I felt an aura of anger that Ebony couldn't feel,"

Ebony nodded her head. Vermilion rolled her eyes in disbelief.

"Isn't our priority now to find Nesa?" said Tuscany.

"If she really is Oxara why do we have to look for the traitor?" said Shamrock sarcastically.

Tuscany glared at Shamrock. "You already know that it's Oxara, right?"

The higher-ups looked at Shamrock after hearing Tuscany's words.

"Yeah, that's why I attacked her,"

"You should have told us, not attacked her stupid!" said Ebony angrily.

"You would have done the same if you had known?" asked Shamrock sarcastically.

Ebony's face growled, she clenched her fists in anger.

"Well, we'll talk about it later. We have to find Nesa, I have a hunch Nesa was kidnapped by the vampires,"

"Why do you think so?" asked Tuscany.

"Vred already knows that if Oxara comes back, do you think they'll just shut up?"

"Then we must quickly find Nesa, especially since she has a wand,"

"You know what happens if the wand is misused by the vampires?" said Vermilion anxiously.

"But we can't just come and accuse the vampires, we don't have any proof that they kidnapped her," said Lagoon.

The higher-ups sighed, what Lagoon said was true, if they accused without evidence it could lead to war.

"I will come to the vampire world. Lagoon accompanies me," said Gading.

"Tuscany, look after our people while I'm not around. And you Shamrock," Ivory glared.

"Don't act again, if I get caught just once, you'll know the consequences."

"And also keep this a secret from the others, lest anyone know if Nesa's disappearance has something to do with the vampire nation,"

After saying that Ivory went straight to the vampire world with the Lagoon, he hoped what he thought was wrong, he didn't want the war between vampires and witches to erupt again.

"Have you investigated the diamond order?" Tuscany asked Ebony.

Ebony nodded. "But I didn't find anything out of the ordinary. Looks like Irene saw it wrong."

"Actually I have something to say," his tone turned serious.

Ebony looked at Tuscany, she was anxiously waiting for what Tuscany would say.

"Actually I just came to investigate the topaz order village,"

Ebony's brows furrowed, she was confused as to why Tuscany was investigating her own order.

"Selly told me that the one who attacked Nesa while she was being treated was from the topaz order,"

"Are you sure Selly is telling the truth?" said Ebony unsure.

"I'm sure, I trust her because that's why I entrust her to take care of Nesa,"

Ebony sighed, she knew Tuscany was not someone to be fooled. "What makes Selly believe that the culprit is from the topaz order?"

"Selly can't read her mind,"

"And the culprit also has a distinctive aura of the topaz order, which can only be felt by fellow orders," continued Tuscany when he saw Ebony want to answer his words.

"Besides, surely she doesn't want her order to be suspected, right? So why did she lie? "

Ebony did not answer Tuscany's words, what she said was true. She had to at least believe in Tuscany.

"Did you get anything from your order?"

Tuscany shook her head. "Nothing. I didn't find anything out of the ordinary."

Ebony was silent, neither she nor Tuscany found anything strange. She became a little doubtful if the culprit was from her own nation, what if the culprit was from another dimension?

"You remember the potion that was in Nesa's room when she was attacked?" Ebony said.

"Isn't that a potion that only exists in the vampire world, what if the culprit is a vampire?"

"So you mean Selly lied?" said Tuscany did not accept.

"No, it's not like that," Ebony shook his head quickly.

"What if the culprit is from the topaz order but he was ordered by the vampire nation?"

"Your mind is too wild, Ebony,"

Tuscany looked at Ebony disapprovingly, it was impossible for anyone to want to betray their own people. Oxara's betrayal was enough.

"I know my mind is wild but we can't ignore it. You know what I mean right?" Ebony looked at Tuscany who lowered her head.

"You know that Oxara's underlings who committed the treason are from the topaz order,"

"But they've been caught and locked up, there's no way they can get out," argued Tuscany.

"We can't ignore the possibility," said Ebony, looking at Tuscany seriously.

"You're right," Tuscany sighed.

"We really can't ignore this. Tomorrow I'll be checking out the dungeon."

Ebony looked relieved to hear Tuscany's answer, for now, they really shouldn't be rash.

"Wait,"

Tuscany turned to Ebony, she seemed to remember something.

"When I investigated the diamond order village I saw a hut, at that time there was no one. Nothing strange, but somehow I felt something in the hut."

"As you told me, we can't overlook the slightest thing."

Ebony nodded hearing Tuscany's answer, she will return to the diamond order village and check the hut.

"Don't hit my shoulder," Rex said irritably. It was the umpteenth time that Cloe tapped his shoulder in boredom.

"I told you not to pat my shoulder," Rex turned to look at Cloe as the tap on his shoulder grew louder.

Cloe's face turned serious, his hand pointed down the hall. Rex followed the direction of his hand, he saw Shamrock walking with two plates of food. Rex frowned, he saw the meat on Shamrock's plate, although it was common knowledge that Shamrock was a vegetarian.

"Since when did higher up Shamrock eat meat?" asked Cloe confused.

Rex tapped Cloe on the shoulder, signaling to follow Shamrock. They saw Shamrock enter his private practice room. Cloe's eyes quickly widened, she saw Shamrock put the plate on the ground, Shamrock whistled, not long after that a man appeared and ate the food on the plate.

Cloe couldn't see his face because he turned around, but what surprised him was that the clothes the man was wearing were similar to the clothes when Nesa first came to this world.

"What do you see?" asked Rex impatiently.

"There's a man there and he's wearing the same clothes Nesa wore when she first came here,"

Rex's eyes widened at Cloe's answer. Is there any other human besides Nesa here? Because he knew Shamrock had no special subordinates, he only had subordinates because he was a higher-up.

"What's wrong Rex?" asked Cloe seeing Rex's worried face.

Rex shook his head. "Keep peeking,"

"That man is gone," said Cloe

Rex was taken aback, he tried to peek but there was absolutely no opening he could use.

"Why did you stop peeking at him earlier?" Rex asked annoyed, he lost the guy.

"I only paused for a moment Rex, and even then to see you because you didn't answer my question earlier," said Cloe defensively.

Rex rolled his eyes, there's no point arguing with Cloe here. He immediately walked away from Shamrock's room, Cloe followed him while his mouth was cursing in annoyance at Rex's reckless behavior.

"At least we know someone's in Shamrock's private room," said Rex.

"Hmmm,"

Cloe answered lazily. Rex looked at Cloe strangely, he walked back in front of Cloe. Many thoughts popped into his head.

"Is that man human?"

"If not who is he? Is he of the diamond order like Irene said and Shamrock hid him?"

"And where did Shamrock get his human clothes from?"

Rex thought of a way to get into Shamrock's room, he couldn't just guess. If what Irene said was true, then Shamrock could be a threat to magicians.

"Tomorrow we're going to Shamrock's practice room,"

"Hah?"

Cloe was surprised to hear Rex's plan. "You are crazy?"

Rex didn't answer his words, he just walked over and waved his hand at Cloe. Cloe shook his head, he knew Rex was a person who didn't like being controlled but that didn't mean he could do crazy things. But then Cloe let out a resigned sigh.

"If he's sane, he's not Rex,"

---

"Selly,"

Selly smiled at those words. She was now in her village and it was customary for them to greet each other when they got to know each other.

"Aren't you tired of smiling at other people?" Irene asked, she felt uncomfortable because from the start they entered the village many greeted them.

"I'm not a loner like you," said Selly, she smiled again and greeted the people she met.

Irene pouted hearing Selly's answer but she didn't want to bother, she walked ahead of Selly. Her eyes looked around, her purpose here was to find the culprit, not to greet the villagers.

Irene continued walking, she saw many villagers who were short in stature, none of them looked suspicious. Her eyes narrowed, she saw a lot of people gathered, she immediately approached. She saw a man screaming and hitting his own body, people around him tried to stop him.

"POLEY I'm sorry!"

"POLEY WHERE ARE YOU?!"

The man looked frightened, his eyes darting left and right. People began to struggle to calm him down, he looked very strong with his relatively small body.

"Uncle Hevan!"

Selly broke through and hugged the man.

"Uncle why? Where's Aunt Poley?"

The man was still raging, Selly looked at the people around asking for an answer.

"Your aunt isn't here, we've looked everywhere,"

Selly growled, her aunt used to be rude to her uncle but never had her uncle lashed out like this.

"Calm down Uncle, I'm Selly,"

Selly gripped his uncle's hand, she looked into his uncle's eyes.

"Control yourself!"

Selly was silent, she sent telepathy to her uncle. Slowly her uncle's body weakened, he began to realize, he looked at Selly who was in front of him. He immediately hugged Selly.

"Poley's gone," his uncle sobbed.

"What do you mean?"

His uncle didn't answer, his sobs getting louder. Selly patted her uncle's shoulder. Her eyes looking around, she signaled for them to disperse. The crowd began to disperse, although some whispers could be heard.

"Irene, can you help me bring my uncle into the house?"

Irene was shocked to hear Selly's words but she immediately helped Selly. She felt there was something strange about Selly's uncle, maybe she could be called like a child.

Selly came with water from the kitchen, she sat beside her uncle.

"Uncle, can you tell me what happened to aunty?"

His uncle was still sobbing but was starting to control himself.

"When I got home I couldn't find Poley anywhere, she's not a person who likes to go out,"

"I didn't find Jivi either, she was like lost in the earth"

"Calm down, auntie is just taking a walk, doesn't she often do that," said Selly softly.

"What if she leaves because she hates me?" his uncle asked frantically, his body starting to shake again.

"Why should she hate you?" Sally said confused.

"I made a mistake," his uncle began to fear again.

"What..."

"I want to take a rest,"

His uncle immediately stood up to his room. Selly was worried, she was sure her uncle would lock the door and be difficult to talk to.

"Your uncle looks suspicious."

A displeased expression appeared on Selly's face hearing Irene's words.

"You suspect my uncle?"

"His behavior is strange, it seems he is hiding something," Irene said, her eyes fixed on Hevan's room.

"And also he's from the topaz order and he's short," continued Irene.

"You!"

Selly is getting annoyed because she doesn't accept her uncle being accused of attacking Nesa.

"I know my uncle very well, there's no way he would do such a thing,"

Irene chuckled but she didn't answer Selly's words, she walked around the house.

"But who is Jivi?" Irene asked while looking at the ornament that caught her attention, the necklace with the pointed decoration.

"She's a housemaid here,"

"Shouldn't we be looking for her?" said Irene while playing with the necklace she found.

"Put Irene down," said Selly while looking at Irene sharply.

"Oh okay, I'm sorry,"

"I'm sure your uncle's maid saw something, there's no way she just disappeared,"

Sally nodded. "But I can't just leave my uncle."

Selly looked at her uncle's room door worriedly, especially with his uncle's fast panicking behavior, he was afraid that his uncle would relapse again.

"Does your uncle have no children?"

Selly shook her head weakly, Irene rolled her eyes.

"Is there nothing you can ask to look after your uncle? The ones who greeted you earlier maybe?"

Selly came out of her house not long after that she came back with a beautiful old woman.

"Auntie I'm leaving uncle, I want to find Aunt Poley,"

The woman in front of her nodded. "I'll send you telepathy if something happens,"

Selly pulled Irene's hand out of the house, she walked further into the village.

"Where are we going?" Irene asked.

"Jivi's house,"

Selly stopped at a house whose wood was starting to rot, she knocked on the door but there was no answer. He turned the doorknob, open, unlocked it. Selly and Irene looked at each other, they nodded their heads.

It was dark, there was only dim light inside Jivi's house.

"Jivi, are you inside?" Sally said slowly.

No answer. They went further, silent, only the sound of their footsteps.

Irene stopped her steps, she looked at Selly. Her hand pointed to a chair in the middle of the room, there was someone.

"Jivi, is that you?"
