Somewhere in the Purgatory...
*Portal opens*
"Ugh... Traveling continuously really takes a toll on you." I massaged the back of my shoulders, "Lucifer is probably taking advantage of my absence in Kazuki's room so he can mate with him."
When I'm bored or tired from work, I often visit the Purgatory where angels and the souls I pick up gather every day. Here you'll see souls lined up in front of the Judgement Hall, waiting to see results whether they'll end up in Heaven or Hell. It's a hard job picking up souls especially when they refuse to go with you here. I summon about a million copies of myself every day to get the job done faster. Every minute someone dies and I have to take care of all of them ALL AROUND THE WORLD!
"Hey, Lucien you're back!"
"I'm not in the mood right now, Michael."
That dude is Angel Michael, one of the most famous angels in the Bible. He's an energetic guy and likes to play pranks on other angels. I'm with him when he pulls pranks because we're partners in crime.
"Why?" He pouted, "Did something happen in the Mortal World again? There are tons of humans dying every 3 seconds, are you sure you're still okay with your work?"
"Of course. I've been prepared for this job my whole life! It's my duty as the eighth Grim Reaper to continue the role of picking up souls from dead humans."
"You know, it's okay to ask for help once in awhile. Don't shoulder everything by yourself! We're here for you, man. Plus, if you get hurt from working too hard... Someone will be really upset." He winked at me, "He's by the Spirit Garden."
"Thanks, Michael." I smiled and pat him on the shoulder.
"He misses you a lot these days... For a composed angel like him, he's really restless whenever you ignore his messages."
"I'm too busy to chat with him, that's all."
"It's okay to ignore him as your boyfriend but how about as your best friend? Would you care more if you treat him as a friend than a lover?"
That's right. Me and Gabriel have been best friends for 200 years now... But only a few months ago did I realize I had feelings for him. I confessed to him at that time and he said that he felt the same way so we started dating. But I never thought it would be this hard to be with someone as your lover.
"No matter what happens, Gabriel and I are best friends. I'm just not used to dating him yet because we barely see each other nowadays."
"Well you better talk to him as soon as possible or else your relationship will be much more complicated than it was before." He pat my head, "I wish you two nothing but happiness... So please, make your relationship work."
"I'll do my best." I waved goodbye and left.
He's at the Spirit Garden... Gabriel, wait for me...
A few minutes later, I made it to the Spirit Garden as fast as I could so hopefully I'll see Gabriel. I looked everywhere for him but I couldn't see him.
Those thoughts began to mess with my head. But if I do get to talk to him, will he be happy? Or will he be angry and end things? I guess I should be ready for the worse...
"Lucien?" that voice...
I turned around and there he was. "Gabriel."
"You're back from work?" He was smiling... Why?
"Yeah and I had something else to do so I got even more late." I couldn't look him in the eyes.
"Are you okay?" He pat my shoulder and I suddenly backed away. What did I just do?
"I..I didn't mean to..."
"Nah it's fine." He laughed softly, "You must be tired from all that work. I also caught you off guard so my bad."
Why?
"Lucien?"
Why?!
"Hey if something's bothering you, you can tell me, okay?"
"Why?..." This is it, isn't it?
"Huh?"
"Why does it have to be me?..." I'll be the one ending this...So please...
"What do you mean? Lucien?"
"I only wanted to be happy..." The tears...
"Hey why are you crying? Just tell me, I'm your best friend, right?"
"Best friend'"
That was it... He said it so himself...I'm just a friend... Why did I even bother trying?
"I... I don't want to see you anymore."
"Wait what? Am I the problem? Tell me so we can fix this. I'll fix whatever's wrong with me!"
"I'll be leaving now." I turned around and ran away.
"Wait, Lucien!" I can hear him chasing after me. Just please let me go... "Please stay and talk to me!"
I don't want to be with you anymore. I don't want it...
"Just let me go..." I kept running and running.
*swoosh!*
"Lucien!" I stopped running. It's Gabriel...In his angel form. He flew with his huge white wings just to catch up to me. "Why are you running away from me?"
"That's not...Fair." I gritted my teeth, "It's not fair!"
"Calm down, Lucien!" He walked towards me and wrapped his arms around me but I pushed him away before he could hug me. "What's not fair?"
"I thought we were dating... But I guess that's just in my head." I forced a laugh, "I thought I could be happy with someone like my brother who finally met with his fated pair. It's unfair that I'm the only one hurting... I don't deserve happiness, after all."
"I'm sorry."
"You don't have to be." I smiled, "I'm going to leave this place and you should just pretend I never existed, okay? I wish you a happy life."
"No!" He attempted to grab my arm but I backed away just in time, "Don't leave..."
"It's for the best." I'm sorry, "I need to let you go now."
"Why? All of a sudden..." He started crying, "I missed you for so long and now that you're back, you're just going to leave me? Aren't you the one being unfair?"
"I love you, Gabriel." It's finally over, "I will always do."
"Lucien!!!" He quickly grabbed my arm and pulled me close to him, "How can I let you go now?! You just said you love me... I don't want to lose you..."
"I may not be your lover anymore but I'm still your best friend, right?"
"No! I love you too much that it hurts...But asking me to let you go is much more painful. You're going to kill me, Lucien."
"I don't deserve you, Gabriel." I tried to free myself from him but his too strong, "I can't move."
"I will never let you go... I'll show you how much I love you..." He carried me in his arms and flew to the sky.
"G-Gabriel where are you taking me?!" We're too high up. "Please put me down!"
"I'm taking you somewhere far from here." He just kept flying and I couldn't do anything else but to grab his shirt tight, "I'll make sure you'll never want to break up with me again."
"G-Gabriel..." I closed my eyes, "I'm afraid of heights."
He suddenly stopped flying. "I'm sorry. I just got carried away."
"Just hurry up and take me wherever you want so I can get the hell down from here."
"Okay." He flew faster and I just kept my eyes closed the whole time. "Hold on tight, Lucien."
Somewhere in Paris...
*Portal opens*
"We're here." I opened my eyes and we're in some sort of flower fields.
"Where are we?"
"We're in Paris." He slowly landed on his feet, "I'll put you down now."
When I got down, I immediately looked at the skies. It was sunset so the colors were yellow and bright orange. The sunlight made the flowers change colors and it was such a beautiful sight to see. "It's really beautiful."
"I knew you would calm down once you see the sunset." He held my hand tight, "The view looks so much better... When you're in it."
I looked at him and he was smiling. I then quickly turned my head the other way. Don't make me fall for you even more! "L-let go of my hand, Gabriel."
"I don't want to."
"You're so stubborn." I mumbled.
I heard him laugh. "This side of you is really cute. I don't want things to end here."
"Gabriel..."
"I think it's time to show you."
"Show me what?" Why do I suddenly feel like something bad's going to happen?
"Heaven."
