Chapter 5 - Chapter 5- Escaping the Bad end(2)

"What are you thinking about Azra?"

Hearing a familiar voice I smiled weakly as I looked at her. Handing me a small milk box I took it with thanks.

Now that I think about it, that guy disliked drinking milk.

Those blank grey eyes… and that insufferable confused face!

'Vadgai!'

Feeling a cold liquid suddenly squirting to my face and hands. I opened my eyes wide to the sound of hearty laughter.

"Holy Galaxica, did you also grow a dislike of milk like your husband?"

Grimacing at her teasing tone, I cleaned myself using magic retorting,

"He is not my husband"

That damn arrogant jerk! Just remembering his face makes my face hot.

Irritated by the image of that bowl cut look of his, I tightened my grip in turn and ruined the milkbox.

It was an unbecoming sight of a lady.

Lidia, my childhood friend, simply shrugged her shoulders.

"Meh. Just saying what I hear, don't you know? The man's practically obsessed with you. He's already spreading rumors, calling you his wife and all that"

Her speech and conduct had become less of an aristocrat and more so of a common folk.

Heaving a sigh, a beaten figure came to mind

"I know. 'That guy' even bullied a male student this morning because they were speaking with me"

I told them to head for the infirmary and even offered to guide him to the tp point, but he declined.

Although he was taller and stronger than Vadgai, he didn't fight at all. He was a commoner and the planetoid his family was living is in ownership of the Tashcun aristocratic family.

He was scared of what 'that guy' would do to his family. He also didn't want to worry his family with the fact he was bullied as well. I wondered if that child had even gotten to the infirmary to be treated.

Why was he like this?

"He wasn't always like this…"

I mumbled as the memory when we were children resurfaced

Vadgai at that time, was a bright child with no malice nor paid much attention to the social hierarchy.

But after that day, he was never the same again

"Azra…"

Prickled by a soft voice I turn to see Lidia wearing a concerned look

I selfishly thought I could save him. But no matter what I do, he just keeps on getting worse.

"It isn't your fault"

"I know... That's why I'm giving him 1 last chance"

If he doesn't come forward with a public apology and proper remuneration to everyone he has oppressed with his authority, then I would break off the engagement.

I don't know what I wanted to achieve. I knew his aristocratic pride was larger than the emperor's, and would never bow his head in public in apologies unless it was ordered by that of higher aristocratic prestige than him..

Closing my eyes I smirked at the bewildered look he gave me hours ago

"...I guess, a part of me still had hope"

I shrugged copying the same manner as to how Lidia had done it

"You should have atleast slapped him a few more times"

She teased hoping to lift the mood which I sincerely played along

"Yes I'm actually regretting only doing it once-"

What was that? A figure, no, a human shadow. I was sure of it.

Squinting at the sight of the tp point not too far from us. My gut felt heavy as my pulse was beating faster.

It looks the same, as if it had never been in use in the first place, but why do I have a bad feeling?

"Hey Lidia, did you notice a figure passing by there?"

However much to my dismay, Lidia shook her head no, was i too tired? Too angered? Maybe it was nothing.

[The time is 02:00, all 1st year cadets are expected to gather in the main gymnasium for the

Opening Ceremony. Absence of the event will result in its corresponding sanctions.]

"Well, that's our cue."

Getting up from her crouching position, Lidia stretch her stiff limbs before offering a hand to the sitting Azra.

"Come on, now. Hell will sure let loose if any of the instructors catch us late"

Smiling softly to herself, Azra took her hand. Her stance is a bit wobbly from sitting too long. Taking a look at the tp point one last time, she shook her head. Trying hard to brush off the thought, despite the lingering restlessness in her stomach… A decision she would later regret.

"Something's wrong"

Jun voiced as he eyed the surveillance camera pointing toward the armory.

Its dead

Right to his declaration, the red light on the surveillance camera which would periodically blink was no longer visible.

The Zurge must have made their move. Prince Liam, the protagonist of the game and this world has experienced 2 lives.

The first was the predestined tutorial, an event to establish the rules of the game and power of the characters.

Having regressed once, prince Liam is now going through his 2nd life. The fact that the Zurge queen regresses along with him, should not be known to prince Liam at this time.

A detail the Zurge queen didn't fail to exploit. It would allow the young talents to gather during the opening ceremony, and just when it's about to end, launch a surprise attack. Select students infected by a parasitc zurge would go on a murder rampage.

Effectively killing 3 of the needed pillars in achieving the true ending.

Troy Gibbins

Freya

And… Azra Vermilian, Vadgai- no, my fiance.

Clicking my tongue, I purposely made my presence known.

"Halt! This is a restricted area, only selected personnel are permitted to enter"

The reason why the Zurge succeeded? The queen planted spies, from students, instructors, janitors, to security.

By disabling all forms of communication first after announcing the start of the ceremony, they then made quick work in making the armory inaccessible to non-zurge.

"Not that I don't mind"

In fact I should thank them, after all the Zurge had graciously disabled the authorization codes.

Allowing easy access.

"Try if you can, you fucking bug"
