Time stood still, it was as if the clattering of blades and the adrenaline high slowed everything else down. All I could think about was getting there in time, everything else could wait because if I didn't get there soon he'd be dead. so I ran, ignoring my injuries and the pain I was already in. "Don't you hurt him" I screamed lunging towards the attacker, I tackled him to the ground grabbing his own shield raising it above his own skull. "You will never lay another hand on him again. Not while I live and breathe." I screamed. As if all my anger rose up towards my chest as I heaved shield as it collided onto to his skull before he could even mutter a single word in response.
It was only when I was pulled away by force, that I had stopped. "He's already dead my love" My hands coated in blood and some of my clothes too. I had no idea what I was doing, it was as if something took a hold of me and just told me to do it.
His embrace, warm, endearing and something I have felt I never deserved. "I'm sorry." I said to him, my eyes stinging with tears. "shh" he said in a hushed tone. "it's going to be more than alright". He forced me to face him his warm hands on either side of my cheeks. "It's time to wake up"
I lurched out of bed, my sleep was disturbed and the dream I had was rudely interupted by my phone alarm. I groaned and climed down my lofts ladder. The radio switched on, "It's a bright and sunny Monday morning here in Hope County Montana." I walked towards the bathroom and started getting ready for another work day ahead of me.
"Must be nice to be with someone," I mumbled looking at the pictures of my younger sister with her boyfriend. They were staying over with her boyfriends parents over in Florida for a few months. "Blessed with a relationship and good looks." I thought to myself as I put my phone on charge.
Then I started to think about our older brother, Jason came out as gay six months ago. Our parents disowned him quickly after. I didn't know how to react to that after hearing it from him. So I offered that he could stay here with me till he could get a place of his own.
Much to my dismay, I was the only one that hadn't found someone by the time he had moved into his boyfriends house. "Looks like you're future is sealed Nessi Embers. You might as well become a crazy cat lady now." I said to myself.
I got my car keys, my purse and my lunch. Time to face it, it's just in your future. I locked up and head to work. It's just another boring day after all. why should I get any special treatment. I slumped in my car resting head on the steering wheel. As I started the car up. Works not going to get done by itself.
