Synopsis
When Charlotte, the oldest of his 4 siblings, and the holder of Persephone’s Potestas Deorum, or Power of the Gods, gets murdered and has her “Deo” stolen, Stark’s world gets turned on its head. Not only does he have to figure out who killed his sister, but he also has to balance growing up in a world where people are trying to kill him for the power he possesses, all while the power he possesses is killing him too. Blessed by one of the 12 Olympians, Stark acquires Hermes’ “Deo”,  The power of unequaled speed, the power that transcends time, the power that allows you to be anywhere at any time instantaneously. But, it comes at a terrible price. Mortals aren't supposed to wield the unrestricted power of the Gods and doing so repetitively, can cripple, maim, and even kill the Deo bearer. The more Deo's one owns, the stronger they are, but the easier it is to make a mistake...

Chapter 1 - The “Change”

The first thing I remembered after obtaining my Deo was pain. It surged through my veins like the flames from Hephaestus' forge, scorching everything in its path. My insides felt like they were boiling, my skin felt like it was melting, and each and every one of my bones, muscles, and tendons felt as if they were being shredded, torn, and broken over and over again.

My body wasn't responding to me. I couldn't see, or hear, or smell anything. It's was as if my entire perception was being overloaded with information all at once. Assaulted repeatedly by senses I couldn't seem to shut off. All I could do is lay there in a ball until it finally subsided, while I screamed and cried the whole way through.

'Is it over?'

I thought as I laid there for a moment more. Slowly I opened my eyes, Only to slam them shut a moment after.

'What the fuck? Why is it so bright?'

Cautiously, my eyelids slid open once again, now protected by my hand in front of my eyes, blocking out the sun. My eyes took a few more seconds to adjust, but what I saw after was the moment I knew everything had changed.

'It's like someone turned on the HD settings for life.'

The color, detail, and sharpness of the scenery surrounding me made my mouth hang open for a moment. The detail my eyes captured while I took everything in filled me with awe. I could see everything. From the veins on the wings of the bees flying around outside the window, to what someone's name was on a Starbucks cup 4 blocks away. It was as if someone placed the world on 8k instead of SD.

The next thing I noticed was my hearing. Everything seemed so… loud. The sounds of the city that surrounded me were assaulting my eardrums. I pulled my hearing back and tried to focus on just my immediate vicinity, and that gave me some semblance of peace.

The smells coming from the rest of the city…you know what, let's not talk about that. I don't even want to remember that.

After sitting up, I realized I felt no pain. Anywhere. It was as if the pain I felt just moments before was a distant dream. My body felt lighter, my muscles felt stronger, and the only evidence of the pain I just went through was the sweat dripping off of me, soaking my bedsheets. I felt more alive than I had ever felt in my life.

And beneath all of this, I felt a feeling of electricity inside me. Something that wasn't there before was coursing through my body. I felt like I was invincible.
