Kane's wish was granted for the next two and a half years. He occasionally showed up when Casey was particularly stressed and took care of basic tasks like making phone calls or running errands but that was the extent of it.
That was how he met Vera Gilmore. He showed up one day when Casey was supervising her redoing the cabinets in the farmhouse. He stayed as quiet as possible so she wouldn't realize anything was up but she didn't seem to mind and kept talking about what she was doing in extensive detail.
Kane didn't know her name. He didn't know the names of a lot of the people Casey saw regularly so he often came up with nicknames for them to tell them apart.
Hers was Snow White because, aside from her rather unique eyes, she looked exactly like a modernized version of the Disney princess. He couldn't help but wonder how a girl like that ended up involved in woodwork but he wasn't about to ask. It wasn't his business.
