Vera had never been so terrified in her life as she had been when she woke up alone in a hospital bed feeling sick and hurt all over. The last thing she remembered was the car rolling off the road.
Casey! Ada! What happened? Her belly felt distinctly empty. Where was her baby?!
She began to panic and a nurse had to gently explain what happened as they took her off to run some tests. She had been unconscious for nearly a full day and they had to make sure she hadn't experienced a traumatic brain injury.
She discovered her husband was still unconscious but her daughter was fine as she could be considering she was born nearly two months early via emergency c-section. Not being able to see that for herself was excruciating but Vera could hardly move.
And no wonder once she found out the extent of her injuries and the fact that she had not one but two surgeries in less than a day. She was down for the count.
