Vera shrugged again. "I've never been anything else."
"That's probably part of why he likes you. Goodness knows he needs someone to tell him the world isn't ending constantly," Kane sighed. "So what is there to do around here?"
"Plenty of stuff but not right now. I have a consultation to go to. You can stay here or head to the store early. I can give you the address."
"I'll go there early so I can figure out where everything is."
Vera gave him the address and that was the end of that. Casey was back by the time her consultation was over. That could have gone a lot worse but she felt like the conversation they had earlier wasn't over just yet.
She was right. The next time Kane made an appearance he had more questions.
"Since you married us, you are planning on staying with us forever, aren't you? Whose idea was it? What does this mean for me?"
