Vera managed to get everything ready to leave in only a few weeks. She had done her research, found a new storefront, got them out of their lease early since her current apartment complex was in demand, and had a new one set up.
The sale of the store hadn't finalized yet but there was a buyer lined up already. Packing it up was more heart-wrenching than expected but she was determined not to let herself cry.
She meant what she said before about Tilly always being in her heart and being able to take the things she gave with her. But it was still hard to say goodbye.
Vera had lived in Seattle ever since her dad dropped her off when she was little. She couldn't remember much about life before that. She would miss the food at Heron's and her colleagues in the strip mall but she could find a new favorite restaurant and make new acquaintances.
