Vera was stunned that Kane was talking so much about his feelings. That wasn't something he did often.
This must have been building up for a long time. He talked about things from years ago and it was clear they were still bothering him by his tone. A lot of the things he did back in the day made a lot more sense now.
He had been feeling insecure. He still was.
That was her fault. A lot of the things she said to him back then and even recently came rushing back to her and she felt several stabs of guilt.
Vera WAS only nice to him because he was a part of Casey. She would never break up with him but if he left her, Kane wouldn't have access to her anymore either. She had never considered that when she thought about her worst case scenarios of him leaving.
