Kane showed up a lot less frequently once Casey started taking therapy seriously. He hadn't truly expected them to get out as quickly as they did though.
He kept his surprise to himself and immediately shifted into his old role of doing what needed to be done to protect his idiot when he realized where he was and that he was holding Vera's hand. She caught him up to speed so he was able to participate in the guardianship hearing without any issues.
Afterward he went to work with her for two reasons. First because he had missed her and second because she doubted his usefulness in doing what Casey usually did at the shop and he had to prove her wrong.
"So what does Casey normally do?" Kane asked once they were in the car.
"Cleans and organizes things mostly. And helps me move things that are big or heavy. It's pretty simple, really," Vera told him. "I'm going to have to show you how to do it though."
"Fine by me. I pick things up quickly."
