What did admitting that even do for him? He didn't want Vera to love him. He just wanted to be considered on equal footing with stupid Casey because…because he liked her.
It was only as a person though, right? He would never be able to win over Casey's girl. He had known that for a long time since she kept telling him not to act like her boyfriend. It was pointless.
