The next time Vera was at the support group, she ended up voicing her concerns. "Casey's alter, Kane, doesn't seem to understand why showing me any form of affection is confusing and painful. I feel like I can't reject him because he never had anyone care about him before me.
"Goodness knows he needs to learn how to care about people in a positive way but that doesn't make it any less weird. Casey doesn't come out when I visit so I haven't seen him in months and the last time I did things didn't go so well because he was overwhelmed and got suicidal.
"I don't know what I'm supposed to do because Kane definitely isn't the Casey I know and love but sometimes I wonder if I'm ever going to get him back. If I don't, then what am I supposed to do? I can't just abandon him."
