Casey was still there come morning. He didn't participate in group therapy because he didn't want to but when it was time for him to meet with Dr. Pratchett he brought the letter to show to him.
"I d-don't understand," he admitted.
The doctor scanned it before looking back up at him. "What don't you understand?"
"Any of it! Why is K-kane acting all co-cooperative? Why does it shound—sound—like he actually c-cares about Vera? What's been h-happening while I've been out?"
"You have missed quite a bit. Kane has made progress while talking to me but acknowledges that he can't do what he wants without you being involved. He isn't what you think he is, Casey."
That definitely wasn't true. Look at all the things he did! All of the things Casey did.
"He's d-dangerous!"
"Only when under threat. Which he isn't right now," Dr. Pratchett told him. "Kane has been very cooperative with his treatment plan."
