Casey couldn't bear to face Vera. Not after everything he did. He didn't deserve her kindness or her love.
He had thought he knew a lot about hating himself but this was a whole new level. He had killed his first ever friend because he was like Candy, the monster that haunted him in his nightmares.
How was he supposed to live with himself knowing what happened with Ashley? He couldn't even remember much of it. Those were Kane's memories so they had only come through in fragments. He remembered that because he remembered how Candy had carved 'blood is love' into his back.
How could he have ever turned around and done that to someone else? How could he have passed on that sort of pain?
Love was bad. Love was dangerous. He had known that the whole time he was involved with Vera but hadn't been able to remember why until it all came crumbling down around him.
