Kane did not like volleyball. His teammates were terrible at it but the other team wasn't that great either. Someone spiked a ball directly into one of his teammates' faces and they began to scream about how they were being attacked. That put an end to things early.
He was doubly bored because Vera wasn't coming today. She had called while he was in individual therapy and asked someone to pass the message on to him. That only made today worse.
He was afraid Dr. Pratchett was right. He really didn't want to like Vera though because Vera didn't like him.
Kane didn't want her to stop coming but she didn't even want him around. She was only being nice to him so he would keep cooperating in the hopes that eventually Casey would come out. She didn't care about him.
He knew that but he still wanted to see her because he wouldn't be so bored. She was so confusing but confusion was better than crippling boredom.
