Vera was losing her mind. Today had been an emotional rollercoaster and it was far from over. First she found out that Casey wasn't truly back after all and he was still having issues telling reality apart. Then they got what they had been working so hard for. Now it seemed like Kane was interested in her. How had any of this happened?!
She really wanted to go home and lie down but she couldn't do that until visiting hours were over. He was probably bored out of his mind in here all day every day with nothing to do but prepare for the trial and right now he wanted her to keep him company.
She needed to at least try and be his friend, wary as she was. He was a liar and far too handy with a knife but there weren't any knives in here.
Plus he had no reason to use them. Kane never did anything without a reason. She had learned that about him fairly quickly. He had already apologized for hurting her, saying he misjudged her.
