Time went on. The next academic quarter began, they had fostered a litter of kittens and one additional dog, and Jenna had received the first big batch of letters from her family and been forced to burn them as soon as she finished reading. That had been difficult to do because holding onto their handwriting had long been a comfort out here.
She made sure to reply to each one while the memory of what was written was still fresh in her head. She could drop them by the local FBI office to be mailed for her while Bryce was at work and he would never know.
