Jenna was talking to Bryce normally. She didn't sound nervous or reluctant. That was a far cry from most of their interactions since meeting again and it made his pathetic heart flutter.
The moment was broken when he heard the doorbell ring. "Sorry, Jenna, I think that might be my coworker. I can't load up all of this furniture by myself so I had to ask someone for help. Hang on."
He checked the peephole and, sure enough, it was Dylan. He hadn't been in D.C. often enough to make any real friends but they were friendly enough to stop and chat in the halls on the rare occasions both of them were in the office.
Dylan was surprised by the request but hadn't refused. Bryce was grateful since he hadn't had anyone else he could go to for help.
He opened the door and mouthed "sorry" at his coworker while gesturing for him to come in. He needed to wrap up this call as quickly as possible even though he hadn't wanted it to be interrupted.
