Chereads / Jinn slayer / Chapter 3 - Hunting night

Chapter 3 - Hunting night

Joey walked around the town to find nothing. "This is such a waste of time!" He said.

"Oh please. We've only been out here for 5 minutes." Ahana said.

Ahana pointed to a graveyard and walked over. (She wants me to sit there? In a graveyard!?) Joey looked around for cars.

"Do you not know how weird it's gonna look for a boy to stand around a graveyard at night by himself!?" Joey asked Ahana.

Ahana said nothing and kept walking. Joey rolled his eyes and kept it moving.

"Now we just wait here until a jinn comes." Ahana said.

"Why would one come here?" Joey asked. Ahana turned her cold gaze to Joey. "Because graveyards carry lots of supernatural energy. A spirit is always here. She said."

Joey laid back on the fence and stared up at the stars. "I wonder what it's like." He said.

"Wonder about..?"

"What heaven is like!" Joey said.

Ahana stared at Joey and smiled. "I haven't been there myself…I still might not even make it there. But if I do, I'll make sure to visit you and tell you all about the angles." Ahana said.

Joey laughed and closed his eyes. "Just let me know when a jinn shows up. I know you can't sleep or anything so just wake me up, will you?"

"Fine." She said.

Joey woke up to someone dragging him around the graveyard. He opened his eyes quickly and noticed green hands with sharp claws.

He kicked at the hands until they let him go. He got to his feet and looked in shock at the jinn.

It had giant eyeballs and a very small head. It looked as though it's eyes wanted to pop out. And it's body was very thin.

(That looks very painful. Damn, my legs are shaking! Is this…fear?) Joey thought to himself.

He looked over to his right to see Ahana smiling and watching.

(She didn't wake me up on purpose! I keep forgetting that I can't just tell her what to do…she's not gonna do it anyways.)

"Can I get a weapon at least!?" Joey yelled over.

She threw a hand sized blade at Joey. He caught it and took a moment to look at it.

(What are these messages?) he thought to himself.

The jinn smiled to show a sharp row of teeth. It lunged at Joey, head first with it's mouth wide open.

(I see. It's trying to eat him instead of capture him. That's a low jinn for you, I guess.) Ahana thought to herself.

Joey raised the blade and ran towards the jinn. Joey leaned back and slid on the ground as the jinn was in the air. The jinn jumped into a gravestone and missed Joey.

The jinn's stomach was split open and blood gushed out from the cut.

"I hit it!" Joey yelled in excitement.

The jinn took a step forward and disappeared from Joey's view.

(Wh-is it just moving that fast or can I not see it!?)

Joey spun around to see long claws headed towards his face. He ducked just in time. He could see pieces of his hair falling on the ground.

(That was so slow. How come he didn't see that?) Ahana asked herself.

Joey froze and stared at the hair on the ground. The jinn was getting ready to cut him in half but then quickly jumped away.

The Jinn started scratching itself in a frightening way.

"Did you just…cut my hair!?" Joey asked.

The blade in Joey's hand started to glow with a purple-black energy around it.

Joey turned the blade over and gripped the sharp end tightly.

The jinn held it's hand out and shot it's long nails out, as if they were bullets. Joey closed his eyes. The jinn laughed in amusement as the nails penetrated him. Blood shot everywhere.

Just then, Joeys body disappeared. The jinn's smile disappeared from it's face as it could hear footsteps coming from behind it. It turned around to see nothing, then it turned around again to realize it's head was decapitated.

"Don't ever…cut my hair, jerk!" Joey said.

The jinn's body fell on the ground and disappeared.

(Not bad. His energy isn't half bad either. Still not enough to deal with a medium level jinn, but it's getting there I guess.) Ahana thought to herself.

Joey ran over to her with a smile on his face. Miss Ahana I did it! He said. I bet I can kill hundreds of jinn now! And my speed is un matched with my jinn energy! I can't be beat!" Joey yelled with confidence.

"You're very weak." She said in a dry tone.

Joey grabbed his heart and fell back to the ground. "Why you gotta kill the mood!?" He asked in a painful voice.

"You have more coming…get up and kill them, Joey-boy."

Joey turned around to see three jinns running towards them.

A hour went by and there was a pile of Jinn bodies piled up as they each disappeared one by one.

"It's almost twelve…I've gotta get home now!" Joey said.

Ahana agreed and walked with Joey home. "That really did blow some steam off." Joey said.

Joey stopped and looked at Ahana. What is it? She asked. "Sorry about my little episode earlier!" Joey said as he bowed his head.

Ahana said nothing and just stared at him. (He really is…a kind child.) Ahana smiled, turned around and kept walking.

Joey rolled his eyes and followed.

Couple minutes later, he was at his doorstep and waved Ahana goodbye.

She waved back and watched as Joey closed the door behind him. "Why would they want me to kill such a innocent kid? I know he's a little different but…he's not a threat to us. Seems as though I'll just have to talk with the leaders of the realm." Ahana said to herself. She clapped her hands together and disappeared.

Joey tip toed upstairs and opened his bedroom door to see his sister sleeping in his bed.

Joey was about to yell at her until he saw a note on his desk. He opened it and started reading.

"Sorry about earlier. I always forget we both are in this together and always have to have each other's backs! Love you big bro and always will. Don't forget our promise!"

Joey sat Down in his chair and stared up at the moon. "Our promise…yea, I remember that promise well, sis."

Joey changed into his pajamas and sat in the chair next to his bed. He eventually drifted off to sleep.
