"It means that she was either never transported to the Void space and was already on Earth since the birth of new Earth or she was erased from existence when the Earth was transformed", Serena explained in a low tone. "I am sorry, Dante."
On hearing this, Dante's eyes widened in realization of what she meant. If she was on Earth since the transformation of the Earth there was little chance of her surviving. The second possibility was already obvious and was not the best one to accept in his case.
Dante fought back the tears that tried forming in his eyes as he felt intense grief building up within him. He felt as if he had lost something important, a part of himself, he felt as if there was nothing more to live for. The one thing that had kept him moving was the fact that he felt like he had something to protect. Now that that was taken away from him, he felt emptiness. As if feeling his emotions and thoughts, Serena hugged him tightly before saying words that would change his perspective on what he currently felt.
"I know that you are sad Dante, however you are not alone. You don't have to feel like you don't have a reason to live anymore. You can live for me and I will try my best to live for you. I will stand by your side as best as I can and help you recover as well. Please don't give up."
Dante felt the need to get himself together after hearing this. This was not the place to grief and he was quite aware of that. He quickly wiped his tear filled face with the sleeve of his shirt before smiling at Serena who did the same. His eyes drifted to the crystal impaled into the ground, carefully observing it's current state. It looked as if life had been sucked out of it as it now had an ash color similar to that of ash from burnt paper.
"Let's get out of here", Dante stood up looking around for the direction he was supposed to follow.
Serena smirked before pointing towards the right direction. Dante could not quite understand how she knew were to go in this strange place, however he had to assume it was one of her strange abilities. As they moved further and further into the interior of the tower, Serena could not help but feel a heavy pressure upon her back followed by the feeling that she was being watched. She felt as if it would sink her into the ground at any moment.
She had felt something like this when they were face to face with the High Fracture, though it did not feel anything like this. What she felt now was a million times more intense than that. After she had recovered from this, she looked around as she suspected something was there. Serena believed that it could be the mist creature from before, however she was quickly proven wrong as nothing was in sight.
"Serena, is anything wrong?", Dante asked concerned for her well being.
"No, I just thought I felt something"
"We are safe here remember. You said so yourself", Dante said with a reassuring smile.
"Yeah you are right. Was most likely imagining things", Serena said moving forward.
After a few seconds of walking, Dante and Serena were transported to the Garden once again, giving them a sense of safety. Though they knew that they would have to walk to their new hideout. This only stressed Dante a whole lot more. Looking at the good side of things though, it would not take them as long as before to get there since the carnivorous plants did not attack either of them now because of Dante's Nano Lites emission.
Upon reaching their new hideout, Dante was swiftly left behind because of his slow pace of walking. Serena who was walking in front could not help but notice this. Even though she had helped cheer him up in the tower, he had to be the one to recover from what he was feeling. All she hoped was that he would do this quickly as his current mood was likely to affect his capabilities to defend himself.
As the distance between the two widened, Serena could not help but hearing stretching sounds from her right side. She quickly turned around only to see a carnivorous plant extend it's vines to attack her. Serena was well aware of this plant's capabilities as she had studied them extensively. Their vines usually had some sort of poison on it which paralyzes the prey making it easier for the plant to devour. She quickly dodged these vines and jumped back to Dante causing the plant to cease it's attack.
"Oh, almost forgot about that", Serena's face showed that she was still in shock.
Dante seeing what happened could not help but wonder if he could come up with a way to prevent something like this from happening again.
"System, is there any way to stop these carnivorous plants from attacking Serena."
[Yes there is. An item called Nano brace should do the trick]
Dante quickly checked it up and created it with a Nano crystal and a piece of metal. The time they spent in the tower along with the long journey they had to get to the hideout was enough time for him to recover his used Nano Lites. Luckily, the Nano brace was an item that required only 10 Nano Lites to make. After creating this, he handed it over to Serena for her to put on. Without wasting any time, she put it on before proceeding to the next step, testing it out. Stepping far away from Dante, she quickly realized that she was now free to move as she pleased.
"But how?"
"The Nano brace is technically just a Nano crystal you can wear on your hand. It is emitting Nano Lites, that's why you aren't getting attacked", Dante explained. "Now if you excuse me I have to pass out."
Dante proceeded to lay down on a bed he had created. Even though he felt exhausted, he was incapable of sleeping as he was lost in thought.
