Chapter 3 - Do you want to live?

After his high speed transfer to some place else, Dante woke up gasping for air due to the shock he had just had. After his breathing had calmed down, he looked from side to side observing the room he was in. From the pictures on the walls, this was indeed his real place though the only issue now was the fact that it was not as fancy as his former house. It would seem that he was having a bad dream or something, however it felt so real.

Bzzzt! Bzzzt! Bzzzt!

Dante couldn't help but tremble a bit as he heard the sound. It was his phone ringing by the table next to him. This was extremely odd to him as he had just woken up from what seemed to be an extremely realistic dream. The thing that stood out to him the most was the fact that he couldn't really remember anything about himself at the moment. His memories were filled of the fake events that occured in his dreams and nothing else.

Dante picked up the phone before looking at the number displayed on the screen. As expected it was an unknown number which made him feel all the more awkward. The call had gone on for up to four times making him feel as if this particular call was really important. Picking up the call, Dante put the phone in his ears before speaking.

"Hello, who is this?", Dante couldn't help but ask in a rather frightened tone.

"Do exactly as I say if you want to live."

Dante couldn't help but hold his breath on hearing these words. He knew it, he shouldn't have picked the call after all.

"What the hell are you talking about? I can't even trust you."

"I don't have time for games, just do as I say if you wish to survive", the person spoke once again.

At that moment, Dante realized two things, the first was that this person was the person that had appeared in his so called dream. He could tell because their voices were identical. Secondly this same person was a female, he wondered how he wasn't aware of this until now. Since this person was the same person that had helped him escape his dream, he decided to trust her.

"What do you want me to do?", Dante asked fully ready to follow her instructions.

"Good. You have only one minute twenty seconds left. There is a chair by the side of your room, carry it and break through your window."

"What!?", Dante said clearly confused.

"Just do it! You don't have much time left", the lady said causing him to wonder what was really going on.

Everything that was going on at the moment was really strange but Dante knew that this lady was serious about the whole staying alive thing. Walking to the edge of his room, Dante picked up the chair before hesitantly smashing through his window with it. The chair he used slipped out of his hand falling to it's doom from a distance to the ground. Dante instantly realized that he was living in an apartment in a seven story building in which he was at the top floor. There was no friggin way he was jumping through the window. At this same moment, Dante couldn't help but observe the world which had a blueish color at the moment. He didn't really take it to heart as he believed he was currently delusional.

"What the heck is going on?", Dante asked himself before putting the phone to his ears once again.

"Hide! You don't have much time, they are there!", The lady spoke in a rather serious tone.

"They!?"

"I will explain everything later, just hide! You have only ten seconds left!", She spoke once again but in a higher tone this time.

Seeing that he was in a bad situation he swiftly took to his bed hiding under it in order to conceal himself. After exactly ten seconds, three black looking creatures entered into his room causing Dante to freeze in fear.

These creatures were about two meters high with spikes protruding from their backs and arms. Their faces were covered with some kind of blue crystal, however their long sabre teeth was not held back by this. The worst thing he noticed was the fact that they were intelligent beings.

The creatures observed the apparently empty room before looking at the broken window. On noticing this they swiftly jumped through it at incredible speeds causing Dante to panic even more. Seeing that the creatures were gone Dante put his phone over his left ear before speaking once again.

"What the heck are those things!?"

"Well I have no idea, but i call them Fractures. They are what you have to avoid right now, or you are dead", the lady spoke further increasing his panicked state. "Now go down to the bottom of the building, the creatures have gone a considerable distance away from your building."

As much as Dante wanted to say that he lived under his bed now, the fact that those creatures may come back only made him do as she said. Dante quickly came out from his hiding place before passing through the door that was shattered by the Fractures in search of him. The question on his mind now was why exactly were they after him?

"Be careful when you are moving through the building there may be more of them."

Following her advice, he looked around carefully as he moved within the building. Luckily there seemed to be none of those things in the environment. Coming out of the building Dante only realized that what he had seen previously was accurate. The place had some kind of blue color similar to that of a glowing crystal in the environment. Dante quickly realized that was the case as he saw multiple glowing crystals in the sky. He also quickly noticed that the streets were void of humans with only cars taking their place. Vines had grown on buildings and even the road showing that no one had been around for a long period of time.

"Let me welcome you to planet Earth, though this looks nothing like the one we remember", the lady spoke to Dante as he looked around the place astonished.
