Chapter 2 - chapter 2

"Lady Petra, would you consider joining me for a cup of coffee with me. You see, the road is crowded with people and it's almost noon. We will discuss the job's procedures and payment methods at the cafe.``He pulled off his hat and coat from his shop's handle and put them on as he started walking down the street. Petra would seem a little uncomfortable but she was relieved deep down in the core of her heart. She isn't shy or anti-social. She simply worries about people's opinion and their cold gazes upon her. It was like she's just an unacceptable doll who shouldn't be joining their society. He understood that she could talk pretty much and had a reasonable reason to behave like this. "It's okay, lady Petra. You can comfort yourself. Please cheer up so you can start your day with a bright smile on your face tomorrow." he said brushing his hair. For some reason, she couldn't help but be happy about finding someone who readily accepts her. In response, she nodded as she walked around steadily maintaining his pace.

"We will reach soon. The cafe is near the corner. It's one of my favorites, they sell splendid coffee over there and provide you with extra whip cream with chocolate chips on top of it. You will like it, lady Petra." he took a hold of her hand as the people started hovering all over the street. She gasped in awe and flinched. "Please, forgive my rudeness. I can't let you mix in this zoo. It will be a hassle to find you." he whispered with a chuckle. She flinched, it's not because she was scared but it's been a while since she felt someone's hand. The boss's hand was rough, there were few burned marks with bruises of a sharp knife yet it was warm and she could feel his skin. As they walked, she held back engrossing her little fingers between his fingers, tightening their grip, walking slowly as the sky was taken by darkness and there were a few pricks of fire in the sky without moon, it was all still and silent, at least for her. She couldn't hear any vehicle noises, people's shuffling feet, and other noises. It was like time stopped. She could only feel his hand and nothing more. Suddenly, she woke up from her daydream as he shrugged himself and called her out.

"We are here, lady Petra!" she looked up into his eyes, it was glittering with excitement, emerald green just like the ocean. He had rough skin which could be visible in the dim light of the door. It was like the skin had gone through many troubles and hardships. His physique was healthy and rough yet so comfortable. "T-thank you, Nakamura-San…" she giggled as she thought she just took a look at his childish side. As soon as the door opened, the resonating sound of a bell could be heard. Few people dressed in a waiter's outfit came by, welcoming them, showing available chairs. "I will handle the rest, thank you for your kindness." the man let out.

Nakamura turned around, took his coat and hat, and hung up on the hook. He turned around the table and took out a chair, indicating lady Petra to settle down. After the process, he sat down on his chair and muttered," what would you like to have lady Petra." she took a look at the menu yet she couldn't choose as she never tasted coffee before. She took her time and responded," anything you will have, sir." This time there was a vibrant smile on her face with reddened cheeks. "Okay, lady Petra." he didn't take a look at the cafeteria's menu and simply proceeded with his usual drink.

"I hope you will like it, lady Petra," he whispered, yet his voice resonated through her ear loud and clear. Few minutes passed and he explained everything about the bakery's routine and her job.

"Sir, here's your order. Thank you for your patronage." the man went out leaving behind this comment.

"I hope you will like it, lady Petra," he holds out his cup of coffee and gazes through the little window like he usually does. For some reason, he suddenly looked gloomy and unsatisfied. She knew it. She can understand this feeling better than anyone. She wanted to help but she couldn't muster the courage to talk to him. She thought it would be best if she doesn't grow any closer to the man. It would be for the best, for both of them. But deep down, everyone knows the pain of being left out. She was not able to ask him out and they left the cafeteria.

She felt bad if she couldn't do anything for the man who helped and accepted her. As they reached the bakery and were about to head their way, she leaned towards the man, engulfing him in her hand. She could feel him, his rough skin, his heartbeat, his warmness, and a little bit of pain. "Thank you for accepting me, sir. I will work hard, so please cheer up. I will be at your side, in return, please be at my side, too." There was a moment of silence between them, she started reddening and relinquished herself in his arms. "Thank you." In the end, they realize the animosity towards everything. Both of them had a bittersweet smile plastered on their faces. "I will take my leave, sir. I'm looking forward to working with you. See you tomorrow." she said giggling into his ears and the peaceful night passed by.
