It was a temple to Dagan.
That meant it was a temple to my mate. Part of me isn't upset at that idea. However, that doesn't stop me from feeling outraged at their actions. They're using her name, image, and power to drain people from their free will. Nefra would be furious and embarrassed. That's not something I can allow.
It's taking everything in me to stay calm and not give myself away.
"No! Please, don't take him!" A woman was kneeling, begging a man to give back a crying small child. Yet, the man ignored her, hurriedly handing the boy to one of the temple guards. "Please… no!"
"It's only temporary!" The man scolded, gritting his teeth. "It's the only way."
"He's our son!" she pleaded, still trying to get the child back. "You can't."
"Shut up!" I saw the madness in his eyes. He was so far gone he'd been willing to hand his own child over as payment. "I won't lose this time."
