As promised, I lay down.
However, I didn't go to sleep. I couldn't. Instead, I took a hot shower, changed into comfortable clothes, got my daughter ready for the day, fed her, let Sierra fuss over me, ate a large breakfast courtesy of Ava, and let Bailey do a complete examination to make sure the pregnancy was doing well, and finally got into bed. It looked like Vince hid the fact I'd gone missing last night, and everyone assumed I'd gone somewhere early this morning with him. At least, that's what I thought until Taylor came in looking upset.
"Where did you go last night?" she demanded when it was just us. "And why didn't you take me?"
"I went to the house I bought," I couldn't lie to her. She was my Beta, and lying to her meant I didn't trust my own people. "And I didn't take you because I wasn't planning to take anyone."
"But you took Odie and Vince!" She laid down beside me on the bed, pouting. "What's going on?"
