"The third gate will test your worst fears," Leviathan explained as we hurried through the market. It was early, and the daylight was barely fighting against the brightness of the lava. "It could test things you're aware of but also go for deeper things. The worst will be the fears you run from."
"Got it." I wouldn't say I was looking forward to this, but I was ready. Jushion was past these gates, and I wanted to find him. More importantly, Sati was waiting. "What happens after?"
"This is the last gate. Everything's open on the other side, and access to the city proper won't be a problem." He sounded confident when he said it, but something was laced in those words. So I stopped. "What?"
"What aren't you telling me? Other than the long list of things you aren't telling me?" I demand, refusing to take another step.
