"How is she?" Luke asked, his tone full of concern.
"Not good," I glanced back into the room, watching in case Nefera woke up. I was afraid to leave her alone, but she needed to sleep. "Bailey said the stuff she gave her would knock her out for a while."
"Won't it hurt the baby?" My best friend sounded as exhausted as I did, but I was glad he was still up. I needed to talk to someone.
"They all said it wouldn't hurt Devin," I'd been worried about that. My son was well protected by his mother, but what about drugs? Still, I trusted my doctors, and even Andy said what they gave her was safe. "Bailey wants an ultrasound, so she's coming by in the morning."
