"I cut them as small as I could without breaking them," Miranda showed me the pieces of soap she'd managed to break down in the last five minutes. We'd found a package of six with three left, so I was carving runes with the broken Q-tip. "I never thought I'd be using soap as a magical weapon."
"People go by what they're told," I muttered, focusing my energy on the runes. "They think they need special things to do magic. Most of the time, you don't. At least not for simple things."
"You must know a lot," I caught her staring at me and shook my head before she could get the wrong idea.
"No, I'm still learning," That was the truth. I was sure that even with my memories, I wasn't at the level of Robert or Mary, and I was nowhere near Sarah or the Cardinals. "I'm only twenty-one and haven't found my path yet."
