Nefretiri:
"Look, there's Daddy," I whisper to Penelope as we watch Ivan shift. "Is that his wolf? Is that Chagan?"
It was day two of Ivan's evaluation, and they were focused on his wolf. Instead of staying at the packhouse to figure out the prophecies with Alister and Cabe, I'd chosen to come out and support him with Penelope again. He'd only asked me to be there during the magical examinations, but I felt it was important to be here now. Ivan was with me when I took my tests. It felt right to do the same, and Pen-Pen enjoyed it.
Ivan held her between sets, and she loved that. It was a messed up family bonding, but it worked for us. Ivan joked that Penelope had to come with us on dangerous events because we were always finding trouble, but there was some truth to that. Gods, we were fucked up as parents. Yet, our daughter seemed to enjoy all this way too much.
