It was strange how my ability to understand foreign languages was still active as long as I had a shred of magic. It felt like such a peculiar skill and utterly useless, except that it had proven more valuable than it had any right to be. Strangely, it wasn't a skill set I shared with Odie, even though she was a Rider. Did that mean it had more to do with me and less to do with that? No, it had to be because of Vali because she'd had a similar ability in the memories she'd shared.
"What is that?" I ask slowly, my body still shaken from knowing my pack members had been killed.
"You wouldn't dare!" Odie snarled, getting in front of me. "Are you out of your mind? That shit is ancient and dangerous. Not only for Nefera but for you as well."
"What is it?" I demand with more force. It had to be a fay thing since Odie knew about it, but that didn't help me.
