"Look out!" I screamed, seeing Ezekiel's incoming hit. Luke dodged in time, but the Wendigo just used his super speed and got him from behind, careful not to touch the knife.
Why hadn't it transformed? Luke wasn't a weakling, and he should've had an easier time than I did using the blade. Unlike me, he was born a hybrid, and his mother's blood gave him natural access to magic. So, why wasn't it working? Was the blade tuned to me? Or was something else going on?
It was hurting the Wendigo, but not like it was supposed to. Luke slashed at him, opening a large gash on his bicep, and Ezekiel roared in pain. The wound took longer but still healed faster than anything I'd seen. Luke must've missed the heart, so we had to try again to kill him, but I was afraid it wouldn't be enough. Ezekiel wasn't like the others I'd fought, and he'd said it himself. He'd devoured an Alpha.
