"I don't like that it's been this long," I complain, kissing Nefera's neck. We were lying on the storage room floor with our clothes under us and one of the spare sheets on top. "I get restless."
"It's been a week." She smiles, trying not to laugh as she wraps her leg around mine. "You act like it's been months."
"Six days, actually. And no, not months. Years." I corrected, cupping her face. Loving that Nefera had a genuine smile for the first time in days. Even earlier, when Trevor told us Penelope was mine, her smile had felt forced. "It felt like years without you."
"Hmm, then it's probably bad that I feel guilty." Turning her head slightly, Nefera kisses my palm. Then, she moves to my wrist, trailing kisses to the inside of my elbow.
"Why do you feel guilty?" That's the last thing I want her to feel. I missed her. Not just the sex but the ability to be close.
