"Hey," I knocked on the door of the hospital room. Trying to be as calm as possible. "How is he?"
The she-wolf looked up at me, her eyes red from crying, and the lines on her face made her look older than she was. It was hard to imagine that this woman who was soft-spoken and only ever wanted to design rooms was more than what she seemed. If what her sister said was true, they were the offspring of our enemy—potentially planted here to do the damage that was caused. Yet, I couldn't help but want to ease her pain.
"George says the flush is working." Liz wiped her eyes, trying to hold herself together. "But, he said we won't know how bad the damage is until it's done and he wakes up."
"How are you?" Then, grabbing a chair from the corner, I sit on the other side of the bed, taking Liz's hand. "Have you eaten?"
"I can't eat," She was already near tears. Finally, one manages to escape, and she angrily rubs at it. "I can't leave Freddy."
