Nefretiri
A cry.
That's what brings me back from my state of unconsciousness. My subconscious thought it was Penelope and that she needed me. So, my eyes snap open in the room's darkness, and I allow them to adjust. Then, Kali reaches out, taking a little more control, so her sight becomes mine, and everything looks brighter. That's something I'll have to get used to because it's strange to be in a pitch-black room and be able to see like it's late afternoon.
My other senses are slowly returning, but they're having more difficulty catching up with my body. My skin feels warm, and there's something large pressed against me. I don't have to look to know it's Ivan. I'm curled against his chest, the scent of lightning and heather hitting my nose and soothing my body's ache. He was dead to the world, snoring lightly with his arm wrapped protectively around me.
