So instead, I snatched Kama's cage from her, holding it and Kali close to my chest. I didn't want Melissa or any other Shurakai touching any part of me. These might only be dolls, but something inside me wanted to protect them like they were real.
"That's all we are to you, isn't it? Dolls and pets?" My voice comes out as a growl, deeper than I've ever heard. Something pierces my bottom lip, and I feel sharp fangs when I run my tongue along my teeth. "Who the fuck do you think you are? How dare you talk about them like they're beneath you!"
