I stand beside my mate with a sense of pride. Nefera didn't understand it, but she was winning everyone over. Without raising her voice, the council realized they couldn't push their weight around with her.
"Of course, Luna," Rhonda forces a smile. And I have to stop myself from laughing at her. She thought she was being slick. I'd tried to warm them, but no one had listened to me so far.
Did she really try to intimidate Nefer with her looks? It's not that Rhonda wasn't a knockout, but how could a mortal compete with a goddess? But, then, how she'd looked at me like there was the possibility she and I had been a thing.
Nefera already knew I was biased when it came to dainty females, and Rhonda was definitely in that category for me. But, no, I never looked at her twice, not like that.
