I parked the car beside a group of others and cut the engine off. It didn't take that long to get here. The roads were clear, and it was mostly a straight shot. I liked driving the truck. It felt like second nature to me.
When I'd driven the car Ricky got for me, I always felt cramped, and I could never get the gears to work right. But, the truck was easy to work, and I didn't feel as small as I'd thought.
"We'll have to walk from here," Brandon explains from the back seat. "Is that okay?"
"Yeah, I don't mind," I smile through the rearview mirror.
Brandon and Hannah insisted on coming with us, leaving their groups to hang out at Randy and Sierra's for a while longer. I worried this interfered with their jobs, but most of them worked for the pack business.
The Red mountain was beautiful, and you could see for miles from here. We hadn't come the way the humans knew, but it wouldn't be hard to find the road we took.
