"Are you okay?" Willow asked as we walked in the grass. We were on the training field, so I could get some air. I was hurting, but not in a way that concerned anyone. "You look sad."
"I am sad," I confessed, feeling more comfortable admitting that to the little girl than to the adults around us. "I miss my mate. He... came to see me in a dream, but it only lasted a little bit, and I have to take care of everyone and maybe even more people. It's a lot for me."
"Danny, let me see a picture of Alpha," Willow confessed, her gloved hand holding me tight. She wore her pink parker and looked no different than any other kid. "You smile a lot more when he's here."
"What picture?" I blinked, wondering what photo Danny had of me and Ivan together.
