I'm sorry.
It wasn't what I predicted she'd say. It's why I'd said nothing. Luke was right. My temper always ended poorly. No matter how mad I got at her, I couldn't lash out like that. It made me look like a jerk to ignore her, and I won't lie, I was one, but it was better than the blowup.
What I hadn't expected was for Nefera to be the one to say she'd been wrong. She surprised me.
"I shouldn't have run after her," she whispers, looking down at the ground. "I don't even know why I did."
Now what? I'd thought I'd have to fight to get her to understand, but apparently, she already did.
"I'm not sorry that I found Dylan, but I didn't handle things properly." she continues, looking down at the ground. "You were probably scared out of your mind."
That was an understatement.
