"You can't help yourself, can you?" I leaned against the doorway, staring at the pack doctor as she checked a pup's ears.
Jessica turned, surprised to see me.
"You're awake," She sighed, glancing at the little boy. "I'll finish in a little while. Why don't you go find your mom?"
"Okay," He smiled, jumping off the wooden table Jessica used as an exam table.
The boy started running but paused to look at me, his eyes wide in awe. I smiled at him, and that only made him more surprised. I wasn't sure why he was so stunned by my presence because I didn't think he was old enough to understand who I was. So, was it my height? I've noticed I'm only a little taller than the other males.
"Hi," I crouched before him, trying not to seem intimidating. "I'm Ivan."
"The Alpha King," He whispered, his voice barely audible.
"Just Ivan," I correct, not wanting to scare him with titles. "This is your Alpha's pack, not mine."
