I wasn't on the boat anymore.
When my eyes opened, I instantly knew I wasn't in the same room they had me in before. The ceilings and walls were highly polished wood instead of stark white, the smell was pleasant, like soothing incense, and the lights weren't harsh. I wasn't lying in a cot anymore. Instead, I was in a king-size bed with expensive sheets, almost as good as mine. It would've all been really nice if it wasn't for the chains around my wrists.
The rope they'd used on me before was no longer around me. It looked like they were tired of watching me snore. Unfortunately, they'd decided to go with silver cuffs. The metal burned my skin as I tried to move, but it wasn't as awful as the rope. I no longer sensed Nefra's essence, which was both a relief and disconcerting. Jessica said the rope was experimental and not my mate, but I couldn't forget what they said. Something about Nefra's shadow.
That was just one of my thoughts, though.
