"You're emotional," Robert set the glass of brown liquid down as I rubbed my eyes. We'd been at this for hours, and I kept filling the bowls with alcohol, not water. "Let's take a break."
"No, I need to get through this." It had taken too many days to get back to testing, and I needed to finish this.
We were a week in, and things hadn't gotten much better. The pack was still uneasy about everything; we hadn't come up with any leads, and there was a lot of unrest among the races. I'd made a gamble, and it might not be paying off. Still, I knew what I was doing was the path I needed to take. That included finishing the tests so I could start training. The problem was that I took several steps back in the past few days and couldn't get myself together.
"If that's what you want. I've got nowhere else to be." He shrugged, leaning back and watching me with an almost bored expression. "Carry on wasting time."
