I heard the truck down the streets well before I saw the headlights.
Putting the notebook on the bench, I watch Ivan pull up on the side of the road. As I'd hoped, he'd known where to find me. I hadn't meant to do this when I sent the text message, but something more powerful than me pushed me to make that call. Linda gave me the guest room that would eventually become the baby's nursery, and I'd been reading the notebook. When I'd finished, I tried to think about the third section in hopes of remembering something, but even with it being blocked like it was, Black Coral held onto that like it was the most crucial thing in the world. That meant it had to be true somehow.
