Since the distance between Sam to Lily is not that far now, very quickly, he arrives at the scene. Upon his arrival, he and Nycta hear something.
*Boom!*
Once more, there is an explosion although it is not as loud as the first. But this time, it is associated with two unfamiliar screams of two males. The tension within Sam's chest keeps on rising after those sounds, as he thinks that Lily is being targeted. He can feel the drum-like beating of his heart getting stronger by the seconds.
But just when Sam is about to reach Lily, the first thing he sees is a gigantic earth wall, blocking his way into the area. Permeating the asphalt road and piercing the ground up like a spear, it covers any space for Sam to move in.
With Nycta protecting his sides, and the controlled girl managing his back, he immediately chooses the fastest route possible: Straight through the wall.
Light Magic: Physical Enhancement.
His body glows up as he takes a step back and draws his right fist.
*WHAM!*
"Huh!!"
To his surprise, it does not break. There are cracks around the place of the impact, yet the earth wall still stands. Back then, Sam could punch through concrete walls with just his minimal affinity in Light magic. After the exchange of blood with Lily, it has increased drastically. Also, the gauntlets should have been able to aid him with his attack and break this wall down with just one hit. With all of those combined, the earth wall should have been smashed down with ease directly.
It seems the people behind the walls are very proficient in what they are doing.
"Lily is behind this, right Nycta?" He turns towards the blind girl.
"Yes, Sam." She nods.
"Can we pinpoint her location? Especially if she is right behind it?"
Nycta stops for a second and replies. "She's a bit further away to the right."
"Thank you!"
His body is then covered by another layer of near-transparent protection. It is the Ice Armor spell. "Could you just step aside a little?"
"Of course!" Nycta moves away from him, knowing what he is about to do.
His right gauntlet is enveloped by fire. The air around him quickly heats up. And on top of Sam's right fist is now a miniature orange-yellow sphere of fire.
Fire Creation magic: Explosive Fist.
"Hah!"
He swings the fire bursting gauntlet at the earthy wall.
*BOOM!* *Crumble*
The wall explodes to the other side, making a door for him to go through. He goes through it, a starts looking frantically. When the dust has settled down, Sam can see Lily.
She is still in her usual doctor's white coat while wearing a mask. On her waist are the scabbard and the sword she has been using.
"Ah! Sammy!" She sees him and her azure eyes light up.
On the ground are two guys that have been trying to target Lily. She stands on top of them, tightening the metal chains she has been using until now. Even though she could not get through their defense in a short amount of time, she has been able to use the metal chains to wrap around the two guys.
"Let us go!"
"Vile woman! Let us go now!"
The two guys scream in fear. They do not know what is going to happen from here.
It was fast, incredibly fast. From the moment their hoverboard exploded to pieces, to the moment they were caught, the time it took Lily was less than a second. The explosion not only blasted Lily away to the sides, helping her get a good position with the metal chains but also stunned the two guys for a short period. Then, she would create another chain from her palms, catching the guys and tying them down. All in a smooth and flawless state.
As if Lily has had total control of everything, she caught the two guys relatively fast.
Clearly, Sam's training has been a great help for her.
"Thank the Goddess you are fine!" Sam breaths out heavily and smiles at her. "Who are they?" He points his finger at the two guys on the ground.
His eyes start to change.
Lily keeps on tightening her chains. "Ah! These things! Two would-be corpses!"
"Ridiculous!"
"You stupid shit! We have protection far better than you can possibly imagine!"
The two yell angrily. They are also confident that Lily would not be able to break through their invisible barriers. To Earth, the level of defense should be a level A manafused equipment, or even an S.
*WHAM!*
Sam's fist slams at one of the two, which scares the two into silence. Although the meer shockwave of his punch is so powerful that it pushes air and dust on the ground away, between the face and the dragon horns knuckles, a transparent force field that has runes on it blocks it completely. There is extreme rage in his eyes, yet his face is oddly neutral.
"They are right. Even with the gauntlets and Physical Enhancement, I can not break through this thing." Sam says. "So this is the reason why these dicks are so confident."
"They may be powerful magic users and are equipped better than us, they probably have none of the fighting experience that we do. After all, Lily was able to capture them relatively easy." Nycta comes close to Sam and holds his left arm all lovey-dovey.
Hearing that, the masked girl stares at the blind girl with vortex eyes. "Oh really? Then why don't Lady Control Freak try to do the same thing you always do?"
Nycta laughs hysterically. "Haha! I'm not stupid! If Sam's punch can not go through that barrier, I don't need to embarrass myself!"
"Why you little!!!"
Sam interrupts the drama of the two girls. "Let's do that when we get back home, girls."
"Yes, Sammy!" The two reply sheepishly.
"What are we going to do to these bastards?" Nycta asks.
"Let me try one more time. It needs to have a limit right?" Sam once more ignites his right gauntlet with Explosive Fist. "Stand aside, girls!"
*BAM!*
After the fire and the shockwave, the scene is finally changing.
Sam's punch is still a little further away, but it looks like the barrier is fading slightly.
"What! This is impossible! No one in the Selection would have power more than level 6!" Screams one of the two guys.
"Hmmm!" Lily thinks of something. "Sammy, can I try?"
"Okay." Sam steps away from the two guys, giving way to Lily.
Around her, Light starts to gather, until there is one singular white orb that is the size of a baseball.
Light Magic: Convergence Laser Beam.
From the center of the orb, a sliver of light shoots out, aiming at one of the two guys. Even though it is small, the heat it emits is intense, much hotter than Sam's fire.
Sam focuses closely on Lily, while Nycta and the controlled girl go around, checking and killing any charging zombies.
At first, the barrier's runes light up and gather at the point of contact, protecting him. But then, it starts to break down, and Lily concentrated Laser shoots through the tiny hole it just made.
"GAAAAAAAAAAH! AHHHHHHHH!"
"STOP IT! STOP ATTACKING MY BROTHER!" The other one screams.
Lily stops, yet the orb of light is still apparent above her. "Give us the barrier, tell us how to use it, and we'll let you go."
"You'll just kill us once you're done!!! You dirty bitch!" The other one yells from the top of his lungs.
"Lily, just kill them! I don't like them talking about you like that." Sam's face darkens. His voice appears to be shaking in anger.
"Awww! Sammy! I love you so much. But don't worry, I'm doing this for you!" Lily refrains herself from running and hugging him right away. "But you!" She turns to the guy, her eyes filled with crazy wrath. "There is no way for you to escape this. The barrier has a limit, does it? It does not last forever, does it? Once it is depleted, I will burn each of your fingers, toes, one by one. Then, I will use my sword to cut your flesh down to the tenth of a millimeter but will use Heal to keep you alive longer. So what is it going to be? Submit and die, or suffer and die?"
