Chapter 75 - Chapter 74

In front of the building that Nycta was talking about, a huge area is jam-packed with zombies. It connects six different streets into one huge roundabout. Thanks to this location people can get to work easier without worrying too much about the traffic. The size and planning for this place have ensured that there would be enough space for a big amount of vehicles.

Because of this reason, the population density is tremendously high. People from all classes and businesses go through this roundabout here to work. Coffee shops, as well as hotels, are also mainly established surrounding the area.

And currently, the once crowded and always noisy but lively place has turned into a hell hole.

The area was quickly overrun by zombies due to the population it had. The horror it created was simply beyond understanding.

Windows and doors are all broken with shards of glass and metal everywhere. Some burnt, some destroyed, some still have ice sticking on the walls, proving there was a fierce battle prior. The ground is also not even, earth walls and craters are around the place just like how a battlefield should be. Here and there are chunks of meat and flesh as if somebody was not done eating. The streets and pavements now stain the color of blood, excrement, and dead bodies.

It is not a good spectacle. This shows the Selection is much worse than anybody would think.

But why, why would the Goddess bring so much destruction and chaos? She is the Goddess of Love, is she not? Sam keeps asking himself that.

There was a moment when he thought that there was another God or Goddess behind all of this. The thought is growing much bigger with every passing moment.

Yet there is no time to think about something as grand as the Goddess herself, Sam is not in a good position.

Thousands of people are now all dead, replaced by thousands of zombies. Without a target, they are waiting aimlessly at the roundabout. All they need is live bait and hell will break loose. If he gets out there now, there is a huge possibility that he, too, will die.

Through his cover, Sam can even see some that look to be magic users. They all wear different clothing compared to the other zombies. The dead bodies on the ground must have been created by them. But most noteworthy is one particular zombie the size of an elephant.

Similar to L'ren, its lower half has been torn open, revealing the gigantic meat rod. The muscles and bones of it bulge out of the skin, effectively tearing it open. Looking at it, one can no longer see any signs of being a normal intelligent human anymore. Each of its limbs is the size of a normal zombie. If it attacks him, probably Sam will be crushed in just one hit. He has a hunch that tells him this is the state L'ren is going to be in if he keeps on feeding.

Ducking down in an alley, Sam is unsure what to do. He does not think he can get through that area with just his powers alone. Even if he throws the green-haired girl to be eaten, it will probably be just a light snack for the monsters.

There are tons of zombies close to the building. Don't come, Nycta. He screams in his mind.

"There are not many on my side over here." Her voice is a little nervous for him.

That's good...That's good...I can hardly see the entrance to the building. They're just so many. Probably they have all gathered at this place.

"Then I suggest we get to another location?"

Yes! Do not go near the building anymore. You can see what I'm seeing, right?

"Yes...If that monster is similar to the guy you saw..."

Then he can also use magic. Sam sighs deeply. He does not expect it to be this hard.

I have been trying to dodge all the zombies to conserve mana as much as possible. Because of that, so many zombies are still behind me, and they are coming here.

"What!? Wait for me Sam, I'm coming immediately."

No, Nycta! Stay where you are! That monster is too much for any of us to handle. Actually, find somewhere safe first before meeting up. Keep me informed where you are. I'm going to go up the buildings and try to find a way across.

"I will. Please be safe, Sam..."

He hears the growing anxiety in her words.

Sam is really in a pinch. Outside to his right is the horde, while on his left is the bunch of zombies that he has been trying to avoid, behind him is the dead-end corner.

The only way to move is up. However, Sam is still unsure what triggers the zombies outside. Whether it is visual or sound or anything else, he is still skeptical.

To go up, he is thinking of firing a metal chain and attaching it to the wall. Since both sides are made from bricks, it should be easy for him to hold on and move upward. There is a drawback to this, is that the sound may attract the monsters outside to his place.

"Graaaah!" Sam hears the grunting sounds of the zombies getting closer.

"Hey...hey...Mute! What should we do?! They're coming!" The green-haired girl is in panic.

There is no time left to delay.

Earth Creation magic: Metal Chains.

Sam makes a long chunk of metal from his hands. With his body glowing in the Physical Enhancement spell, he fires the chains up, piercing through the brick wall.

*Crack*

Outside, the moment Metal Chains hit the brick wall, instantly the Zombies look towards the alley Sam is in.

"GUOOOOOOOOO!!!" The elephant-like monster roar tremendously loud, pointing its fingers to this side. Soon after, all the zombies start running similar to how soldiers listen to their commander. Their footsteps are so strong that Sam can feel them underneath his feet.

"Shit! So it's the sounds!" Sam curses as he tugs onto the metal chains. It is strong enough. "Hah!" He jumps on the wall, running up the building as fast as he can.

The green-haired girl also hears the yelling of the monsters. Her face goes completely pale. "Hey! Hey! Wait for me!"

Her body also glows in yellow as she grabs the metal chains to pull herself up.

In less than 30 seconds, the horde has approached the alley, luckily, Sam and the girl have moved up the brick wall. Looking down, he can see them trying to crawl to get him. They keep on stepping and pushing on each other, slowly creating a pyramid of ex-humans.

"Damn it! These creatures are fast!" The girl shouts. On her hands are gigantic ice pillars. "Eat this!"

*Boom boom*

She thrashes the pillars down, trying to stop them from advancing to the top where they are standing. Upon contact, the pillars crush the zombies above, making a mush out of their brains. Once they are busted open, they turn into sharp edges, cutting the enemies below. "If you have any plan, now is the time to do it Mute!!"

As for Sam, he is not going to fight at this place. Thanks to being at the top of a building, Sam can see the leader of the zombie horde. Suspiciously, the zombie commander is still not moving. However, it has its gaze exactly here.

There is an extremely bad feeling inside of him.

Nevertheless, Sam does the same trick again. The height from the current building to the next one is at least a swimming pool long, there is no way he can make a jump. Some kind of connection must be made if he wants to move. Getting away from this place is the first priority for him right now.

Earth Creation magic: Metal Chains.

*Crack crack*

The chains hit the wall on the other side, creating a temporary bridge. Yet the zombie commander is still not doing anything.

"SHIT!!!!"

The looks of the zombie commander make Sam realize something, why he and his companions are just observing.

If Sam uses the metal chains and climbs to another building, that bastard and the magic-user zombies will have the chance to cut the chains off. They may send out Wind Blade or something similar to get him down. Sam will be then completely defenseless and be caught by the zombies down on the streets.

"HURRY UP!!!" Screams the girl. Zombies are starting to climb up. "I SHOULD NOT HAVE COME WITH YOU!!!"

There is no way left for Sam to go.

This is truly game over.
