Chapter 432 - Chapter 415 ( Abrupt End )

"You're a persistent bastard," Houki muttered as she glared at the grayish beast in front of her.

Lindow's entire body was bloodied thanks to Houki's sharp katanas, but his enormous vitality had hardly diminished at all.

"I'm ready" - Tatenashi said seriously as she walked beside her friend. She was still tired, but that was nothing compared to everything she had suffered during the last hours.

"Good" - nodded Houki as she prepared to attack Lindow again.

Tatenashi was also ready to fight, but the two women's expression changed when they heard a voice they immediately recognized.

"Lindow!" - Sophia exclaimed as she ran in the direction of the group.

"What the fuck are you doing here!" - Tatenashi exclaimed as she looked at her teammate in surprise.

"I came to save my boyfriend!" - Sofia exclaimed as she looked at the two women, then looked at the beast - "Lindow, it's me, Sofia!"

The beast watched Sofia carefully as she slowly approached.

"Are you out of your mind!" - Tatenashi exclaimed as she ran to the woman upon seeing what she was doing - "He's going to kill you!"

"No! He won't!" - Sophia exclaimed as she dodged the blue haired woman and continued to advance to her boyfriend.

Houki watched this silently as she signaled her friend to back off. Sofia had made up her mind, and they would do nothing to stop her from doing what she wanted to do.

"Lindow" - Sophia said with a smile as she walked closer and closer to her target - "I know you can hear me, I know you can understand me, so I'm asking you to calm down, get back to normal, and let's find a cure for your problem."

The beast continued to watch the woman, but if one were to look more closely, one would notice that Lindow's eyes were glowing slightly.

Sophia smiled even more when she saw this as she felt her words were getting through to her boyfriend's confused mind - "Come on, Lindow, let's go home, I promise I'll do my best to help you."

Lindow opened his mouth slowly, as if he was trying to communicate.

Sophia put her hand on the grayish beast's leg as she closed her eyes to try to listen to her beloved's heart. She was trying to find a connection that would bring her boyfriend back, but her expression quickly changed when she heard an agitated voice - "What are you doing, open your eyes and run away!"

Sofia slowly opened her eyes, but it was too late. The last thing she could see before she lost consciousness, was how a long row of fangs had surrounded her - "Lindow!"

"Sofia!" - Houki exclaimed as she watched Lindow tear at her friend and companion's body with her fangs.

Blood flew out of Sofia's body like a geyser as her lower half fell to the ground.

Tatenashi and Houki were terrified to see how from Sofia, only her bloody abdomen was left down.

Sofia's beauty had disappeared from this world and now only half of her corpse remained while the other half was devoured by what was left of her boyfriend.

Houki bit her lip as she felt her insides freeze.

Her friend's fate had been too tragic, she had died in the most brutal way possible, and what made it worse, was that the one responsible had been none other than the man she loved.

Tatenashi was speechless. Words could not get out of her throat as she felt sorry for her teammate's cruel fate. She didn't feel much for Sophia, after all, they had only been teammates for a few months, but that didn't mean she wasn't saddened by his death.

Lindow watched the corpse of his former love in silence, to quickly focus on his two main prey. He seemed unaffected by what he had done, proving that his last hint of humanity was completely gone.

Tatenashi and Houki understood this, their leader was dead and now there was only one beast left for them to hunt, and a companion to avenge.

Lindow, no, the beast roared fiercely as he sensed the change in the attitude of his two prey. He went on the defensive as he growled fiercely.

"Come monster, today you are going to be reunited with your beloved" - snorted Tatenashi as he gave a glance at the remains of his companion - "I promise your death will be one filled with pain and suffering."

"Tatenashi" - muttered Houki as she discreetly looked at her companion and friend.

"What, are you going to tell me not to do that and give her a quick and painless death?" - Tatenashi asked as she snorted in disdain.

"No" - replied Houki while shaking her head - "I want to kill him myself, so I'm asking you to let me give him the final blow."

Sophia may have distanced herself from her after the blonde found love in Lindow, but that didn't mean she had forgotten the past and everything they had been through together, that's why she felt she had to avenge her with her own hands, though she wasn't stupid enough to tell Tatenashi to let her do all the work.

"If that's what you wish, I guess I'll accept your request" - Tatenashi replied as he nodded firmly - "But that doesn't mean I won't tear it apart."

"Casualty count!" - Sakuya exclaimed as she looked at the tired soldiers stretched out on the ground.

"Can't you see there are only five of us left?" - Yoh said disdainfully, though inside he was cursing that his allies were still nowhere to be seen. Supposedly they only had to kill the waste while they concentrated on the main force - "Ugh, sorry, I just feel helpless after seeing the deaths of my comrades when those motherfuckers from the main force should have been here by now."

Yoh wasn't lying, they had received the mammoth force of the stampede directly, and had managed to survive, that meant the soldiers should have already been by their side after the first few minutes of resistance, but there was no sign of their allies no matter how much time had passed.

"Did they just abandon us to our fate?" - Said another of the lucky soldiers who had managed to survive, although from his condition, one could see that it was barely. The poor man had his whole body bandaged, even his head, and from the way his face was covered, one could tell that he had lost one of his eyes.

"It's quite possible that's the case" - Sakuya replied regretfully as the soldiers bit their lips.

Such it seemed that the soldiers who had supposedly come to help them had decided to ignore their orders now that there was no one to lead them.

"At least we're done" - muttered another soldier as he sighed with regret after seeing how all his friends had died.

Sakuya was silent when she heard this, after all, she wasn't sure if they were done with this ordeal or not. She just wished it was true so she could finally take a well-deserved rest, no worries or fears of those things attacking again.

She looked up at the dark sky and noticed how the sun was starting to appear from the horizon. They had been fighting for hours and were wounded, exhausted and sad.

The attack was supposed to be over in 6 more hours, but with all the events that had happened during the 'event', they caused the stampede to end abruptly.

"When we get back, I'm going to beat up all those bastards" - Yoh muttered as the others nodded firmly. They were suffering from countless wounds while their allies were taking a break, but what they didn't know, was that this group of soldiers was not in good condition.

They too had been fighting without rest, all thanks to the countless ambushes they had received from the [Aragami] in the area. They didn't know the reason for this, but it was as if something was trying to stop them from reaching their allies for support.

"Take a break, I'll go see what's going on in that mist" - Sakuya said as she stood up wearily and prepared to walk to the direction where her allies were. She was the one in the best condition, though that didn't mean she wasn't tired.

"I'll go with you" - Tsubaki replied as she tried to get up, only to fall limp to the ground from both the physical and psychological exhaustion she was suffering.

"I recommend you to rest before doing something stupid" - Yoh said as he looked at the two women. He had regained a little respect for Tsubaki during the fight, although he still thought she was a stupid woman - "If you're going to die, at least do it fighting"

"Not the best motivational words, but he's right" - said a soldier as the others nodded - "You'd better get some more rest before going to that place, at least if you want to keep living"
