It was luck that Matt made it on time, however, I could not fail to notice the look in Nelson's eyes when Matt arrived, it had mockery in it, almost as if he was warning someone about something. "It's a good thing that's over. By the way, where's Mrs. Ryan?" Jason asked.
He was right, she was nowhere to be found ever since she stepped down from the stand, where could she be? "I have no idea, I'll ask around just in case anyone has seen her."
"Relax," Jason tells me as he stops me from leaving. "Wait here, I'll look for her." He says, but as he says this, I notice a squeeze on his face as his eyes move around.
I didn't bother with any questions and let Jason leave to search for her. Shortly after Nelson finished defending himself before them, I could see the crowd soften up as they sympathized with him and were glad.
At the same time, I was nervous. Jason had not come.
