Vania remembered her house bill. There's no way she's unemployed. Moreover, finding a job was difficult. Plus she has received a negative stamp through the distribution of videos in the cafe yesterday Saturday. Inevitably, Vania nodded her head.
"Yes, I will," answered Vania in a weak voice.
Rosa flashed a mocking smile. She immediately made a letter of assignment for Vania and printed it.
"This is for you. Travel letter," Rosa handed her a piece of paper containing her signature and office stamp. A sign that Vania is officially covering news related to the earthquake and eruption at Mount Merapi.
Vania accepted it languidly. She skimmed the contents of the assignment letter.
"Who am I do this job with?" she asked.
"Alone," said Rosa. "Until Merapi stops erupting, you will continue to cover there and be alone. No one can accompany you at all."
"But, I need someone's help to record me right?" said Vania. She felt Rosa's order was illogical now.
"It's sophisticated now. There are tripods. Why don't you use a tripod?" said Rosa. "Or, you can find a young videographer and hire him with your body. I think you are an expert in this field."
Vania growled. She was angry with the way Rosa was sarcasm at her so sarcastically.
"Rosa, you—"
"Go away," said Rosa. She chased Vania away without paying any heed to Vania's words.
To her, Vania was just a nuisance and deserved to be treated like a trash fly. Vania couldn't fight Rosa in the office. After all, Rosa was his boss. Arguing with Rosa is tantamount to trying to become unemployed.
"Good. Thank you for the assignment," Vania crumpled the paper roughly. She got up from her seat and stepped out of Rosa's office room.
Vania could only keep her anger until she got home. She screamed loudly at night on the bed. She screamed at his pillow so that her voice would be muffled and not echo through the room.
"Rosa, why are you being so childish?" Vania protested against her pillow. She beated her pillow to release the burning anger she had been holding back.
"I tried my best to apologize. I've even decided on Dio. What else does he want me to do?" Vania felt tightness in her chest.
Her eyes were hot red. Her tears rolled down her cheeks. "Why is life never fair? In fact, I don't know anything about Dio and Rosa," Vania sobbed while wiping her tears.
"If I had known they were engaged, I would have immediately walked away. I'm not that crazy with Dio." Vania was crying loudly again.
Only at home can she do this. She can scream, get angry, and cry without the slightest burden.
For this convenience, Vania tried to stay at work. She endured all this suffering and pain so as not to lose this comfortable home.
The next day, Vania started to do interview people in the area around Kaliurang. She drove alone to the village which had become an alert zone.
People living there should have started evacuating or moving. However, they are usually still there to survive because livestock cannot be evacuated haphazardly.
Vania met the village head. She did a brief interview about the socialization of the eruption and preparation for evacuation if suddenly such a big eruption arrived.
After that, Vania continued to interview residents and the head of the RT. Every time there is reportation, Vania always does the interview in its entirety.
She will interview all potential sources to get more accurate news. Because of this, all of Vania's interviews have always been positive. Vania's salary also increased quite rapidly. Moreover, Rosa always supported Vania.
Vania was stunned. She stopped at the edge and set up her tripod and cell phone there. She recorded the opening of the video to start the reportation with Mount Merapi in the background.
The wind was blowing hard. It made the tripod wobble and almost fall. Luckily someone ran over and caught the tripod.
"Ah, thank you," said Vania. She ran to the man.
"Careful. Why record alone?" replied the man. He gave the tripod and cell phone to Vania.
"Dio," Vania hissed when she realized that the man was Dio.
Dio is seen in casual clothes and his camera is looking at Vania. The man was surprised to see Vania reporting alone.
"You don't have a work partner?" asked Dio. He began to feel that there was something strange about Vania.
"None of your business," replied Vania curtly. She experienced this bad thing because of Dio. If she remembered, Vania wanted to kick Dio now. However, Vania couldn't suddenly kick Dio in a public place like this.
"You look pathetic," Dio said honestly. "Want me to help?"
"Help?" Vania was shocked.
Dio no longer interrogated him. The man instead offered the help that Vania really needed right now.
"Yeah, you don't want me to help you?" replied Dio. "Strong winds. Now the sky is cloudy. Soon there will be heavy rain. Your work will fall apart if you insist on doing all this alone. You need my help Vania and I want to help you."
Vania looked up at the sky. Dio's words are correct. Now the color of the sky has become dark gray. About half an hour or an hour, it will rain.
"OK. I ask for your help," replied Vania agreeing. She didn't want to get sick and her work to be messed up.
Dio smiled. He reached out for his camera and recorded Vania.
Vania got to work. She broadcasted according to the script she has recorded. Everything went perfectly and on time. Vania smiled broadly and asked Dio's camera memory.
"I want to copy the recording," said Vania. "Thank you, Dio."
"I've already helped you. You have to treat me to lunch," Dio replied. "I'll lend you my memory card when we have lunch."
"Hah? Isn't that against our agreement?" Vania replied surprised. "I thought you were sincerely helping me."
"Nothing is free in this world, Babe," said Dio with a sly smile.
Vania stared. Now, Dio had deceived her. However, Vania couldn't dodge because she was already trapped.
"I won't give you your video footage if you don't treat me to lunch," Dio threatened gently.
"Yes. Where do you want to eat?" she asked.
"Follow my motorbike," replied Dio. He walked to the parking lot of his motorbike.
Vania got into her car. She was driving following the speed of Dio's motorbike.
Not long after, they arrived at a traditional Yogyakarta restaurant. There, Dio ordered a lot of food. Everything is Vania's favorite food.
"Eat. You look skinny," said Dio.
"Thanks. I'll pay later," said Vania. She was already hungry and immediately ate without further conversation.
Dio looked at Vania with a smile on his face. He was happy to see Vania eat very voraciously.
"Why don't you go with a coworker?" asked Dio. He sent the video file on his camera to Vania's cell phone.
"None of your business," answered Vania consistently.
"I heard people from your office know about our scandal, don't they?" said Dio. "They bully you?"
"You think I'm a kid? Can be easily bullied?" said Vania lazily.
"Vania, I'm worried about you. If you really have a problem, tell me okay?"
"If I tell you, really all problems can be solved?" replied Vania angry. "You just can't solve your problem with Rosa."
Dio was silent. He knew exactly what Vania meant.
"Eat. After that, I want to go home. While the rain has stopped," said Vania. She ended the conversation between them.
Dio nodded. He felt guilty for Vania. Moreover, Vania began to be the object of ridicule in the office. Not to mention, Rosa would definitely give Vania a lot of trouble.
That night, Dio decided to come to Rosa's house. He chatted with Rosa and brought her a present of cake and roses.
"This is for you," said Dio. "Are you trying to be nice to me?" Rosa accepted. Her heart was happy to get a gift from Dio. It was rare for Dio to give her gifts.
"Rosa, can we talk casually?" replied Dio. "I want to talk to you about something."
"You can. Where are you going?"
"On the terrace of your house." Dio stepped onto a chair on the terrace and sat there.
Rosa entered the house. She told the maid to bring a gift from Dio to her room. Then, she ordered the maid to prepare drinks and snacks for Dio. "Drink this first. You must be thirsty," said Rosa. She served yuzu honey and orange tea. "It's good for health."
"Thank you," Dio nodded. He tasted half a glass of the tea.
Rosa smiled at Dio. She had liked the man for a long time. They were the same age and had been in the same school in high school.
After that, Rosa studied in Singapore and when she returned to Indonesia she was betrothed to Dio. How happy Rosa was at that time.
"What do you want to talk about?" asked Rosa.
"I want you not to make things difficult for Vania," said Dio. "She doesn't know anything, Rosa. I tricked her. If you want to be angry, you can pour all your anger on me."
"What?" Rosa looked at Dio in disbelief.
She thought Dio had changed his mind because Vania had cut ties with the man. In fact, Dio even came to Rosa's house to defend Vania.
"You're going too far, Rosa. You gave a heavy interview assignment to Vania. She had to report alone at the disaster site without a partner. You could have killed her," explained Dio.
"Who cares!" replied Rosa angrily. She got up from her seat and reached for the tea cup. She threw the contents of the tea cup at Dio's face.
"Go away from here!" Rosa snorted angrily. She stepped into the house and slammed the door violently. Rosa ran into the room and locked herself there.
She threw herself on the bed and cried there. "Why always, Vania?! Why?!" cried Rosa angrily.
Her heart was so hurt and full of revenge. "I won't let Vania live comfortably. Just look at my revenge tomorrow for you, Vania!"
